She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Thank you dear!!

And yes, please stick with the chickens!!!!

I dont think hubby wants me to hatch any more this year, but when I mention call ducks, or more turkeys, or more bantams, he doesn't really object either. So I'm thinking I might get away with one more hatch.

Remember, just save room for the BBS Ameraucanas

But that will be next spring, right? I think I'll be able to convince him by then.

I hope they are laying by November, so I will probably be incubating by January/February. Given that, I would say I will be ready to start selling fertile eggs by March. You and sideWing will probably get yours a little earlier for the experiment

I'm curious to see how they respond to a shorter flight vs sending them to Utah

I caught a shot of one of my silkies this morning. It likes its spot, on the fork of the roost branch, just barely off the ground. Somebody tell me it is either going to lay and egg or crow very soon??? LOL It is somewhere between 18-22 weeks old.
Looks pullets to me!!! It would have more polish like top hat for a roo.
Very busy and very loud when they stay for the weekend the 4yr old thinks she going on forty and the 2yr old is like a flea bouncing off everything
My 3 year old bounces lIke a flea too!!!! She is so busy. That sounds typical for a 4 year old. My 9 year is much easier to deal with until she gives me attitude.
I turned 51 this year so yep, well over the average. Lol. I had two eggs in left in the incubator this morning, still no internal pips so I figured that I would try water candling. One of them sunk and had no movement and I discarded it and the other floated and wiggled, so back in the bator it went. I had my first complaint from Jay that's my hubby, last night. He said, this is your last hatch right? I replied um well. He said you haven't ordered more eggs? When you started you originally said 4 layers. I said but I also want blue layers too and just got some from ebay. And we had 9 originals of which 5 turned out to be cornish crosses so we had to eat them. 1 died during the first night. This left 3 and 2 of those turned out to be cockrells. This left me with one pullet. I said well honey you have to look up chicken math. I am not able to explain it very well as others on byc. I also said that it is less expensive and more fun than gambling at the casino like his mother does. He said but I only built the coop and run for 8 chickens. And you have hatched 15 more chicks and 3 turkeys. And now you are doing more.I said 50% will be male. Even though only 1 out of the 5 blrw is. I think. I also told him that I have cleared sore more woods and brush to make 2 more coops and runs. He said who is going to build them. I said that I was going to help him because he loves me. I think I might have won the first battle. I better get outside and clear some more brush in the heat.
Yep...my hubby is getting sick of all my chicken talk. :lau. So I told him I didn't want to hear about his fishing. :gig
Pullet for sure :thumbsup Thank goodness my wife is along for the ride with me. She enjoys it as much as I do, and I had a serious chicken math malfunction. I said no more breeds this year. That was before the BCM and Ameraucana. Now I'm trying to figure out where I will build the olive egger coop. And the coop for the second line of BCM. And the coop for the second line of Ameraucanas... Someone help me, please:hit Well, it could be worse... At least my addiction is chickens. The rest of the men in my family like meth :gig
Chicken addiction is better than a lot of addictions out there!!!! Lol#!!

Also, the comb is almost non-existent and the wattles are very small and black. A roo would have larger wattles starting to redden up by 17 weeks.
That's also a very nice blue on the ear lobes. Very similar looking to my silkies

Thanks. I got her (and another that looks very much like her) about 10 weeks ago. The guy estimated them at 12 weeks, but since they have grown, I believe they were a few weeks younger than he thought. I know they lay a little later than others, so I guess their age will remain a mystery, but I'm glad to know that yall think pullet.

Their wattles are very dark blue, and the ear lobes are gorgeous color. They aren't SQ of course (one doesn't even have leg feathers!) and they aren't even very nice chicks, but they are pretty. LOL
