She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Yes, it it is a sippy cup actually! My husband gave it to me and glued a SoCo label on!!!
I'm going to check the other eggs...
There hasn't been external seepage... I had only been checking this egg, it's in its own bator. I'm more afraid it's bacterial. Had a goose egg do the external seep thing... Ewwwww!

Usually if it's bacterial you'll smell it... no joke...

the amount of water i am adding is daily…Half a squirt bottle that came with incubator
Hi I,ve got a Janoel 24 and I have the same problem , its because you can,t measure what you put in you have to estimate. I just kept checking it constantly, I would top at bed time but it would still be low when I got up ,I get up between 5.30/6.00am everyday, but I don,t know when it starts dropping. I,m now on day 20 and I have a pip, so hopefully my 3 will hatch with no probs fingers crossed

I,ll update later

You smacked me!  You're a Bad Boy!

Now I don't know what "BLUE" IS!  I thought blue was to follow  Brinsea recommendations, no deviations, set them + forget them.  I am an analyst - I wish I continued with the extra  - weighing at day 7(FOR THE FIRST TIME).  But that is ok.  What worked in Montgomery NY( 40 min. from the "City" or NY City"(forgive me I was born in Brooklyn)  may have to be tweaked for the mountain in Scandia PA. They don't even know what a heat wave is here.  Relative humidity I think I got it.  Well, I think I understand it, now to adjust to make it work here. I'm done tonight. I will weigh them tomorrow.

Montgomery is near me! We used to be neighbors!...kinda. :)

What's the plan for the extra silkies after you meet your number of keepers?

In the spring, straight run chicks usually sell as fast as they hatch, but sales died after Easter. The plan now is to raise them to about 4 months, keep about 9 more pullets for myself, then sell the rest. They usually sell well around here, and you rarely see adults for sale, so I will price them not too high and hopefully sell out before the winter.
Had to cull one of my big girls today. Hawk got her. If I'd gone out when the crows first started their ruckus, I might have been able to save her. She had too many wounds for it to be practical to stitch her back together. If she hadn't had the perforated crop, I'd have tried to save her. She was active and feisty right up to the end. This is my first predator loss. (other than a dog many years ago.)
Predator losses are so tough, especially when you have to finish the job. Culling the big girls is harder than the chicks, even if you know it's for the best

Those are awesome looking chicks. I'd like to be on the egg list for next spring, please!
You might want to wait and see what the adults look like

X2 - bet your helpers are having fun with the hatch.

I think that's the problem

Blue isn't so much the type of incubator, it's the hands off approach. You can be blue no matter what incubator or humidity you are using. I tease Amy about the dry incubation because she preaches it so much, and it works in the styros. I tried it in the Brinsea and didn't have good results. I'm going to try it for the BCM, but the approach will still be blue. No candling every day, no marking air cells, no taking chicks out as they hatch, and no assisting. The Brinsea "set them and forget them" is blue, but humidity depends on the individual

@RubyNala97 there are a few that I have looked at. I tried posting screen shots but having problems posting pictures. So the one on ebay is a Universalwant that holds 48 eggs and theres one at Family Farm & Home is by Farm Innovators that hold up to 4 dozen. I am thinking the one at FFH because I can get it today. Or there is a Little Giant Still Air that holds 59 large eggs.

But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.

Epic...

And so fitting... love it...

Hey, hey hey... HEY!!!

It may be a minor point, but I can't let this one go. AmyPaperlady had this exact quote, along with a picture that almost made me have a flashback months ago. When you hear me call her "Alice", that is why. It's an inside joke to the ones that get it. My entire opinion of Amypaperlady, everything that she is in my head, even her worth as a person

, is entirely based upon her timely posting of that picture. If I have to reassign that quote to the self appointed sheriff

, then I may actually lose my mind.

Silkie, this is for adding cuteness to the subliminality of Alice in Wonderland that is way darker than you have any comprehension of

Ravyn, this is for not paying attention when you read the thread

I'm sort of regretting this whole peachick experience. I didn't realize what "imprint" really entails. These chicks are getting BIG. I've been putting them in a cage outside of the chicken run for a week. Trying to let them interact with other birds. Well yesterday I put them in the actual run. They stayed at my feet, starring up at me, crying. I told them go make friends & threw a bunch of worms on the ground. No luck. Then they were all riled up when I brought them inside for bed. Pacing the cage in a panic. I opened the door to the cage and sat on the couch to see what they wanted. All 3 of them flew out of the cage. One landed on each shoulder and the last one flew right on top of my head! I felt like Ace Ventura! They definitely have identity issues. And they make me feel a nut case! Feeling guilty about getting rid of them but don't know how much longer I can deal with this insanity.
