She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

this is my first time ever incubating so not 100% sure. They are duck eggs so I figured it was 55-60%. The eggs are in the nesting box & the weather channel says RA humidity is 43%.
What humidity % are you wanting to try? I would run dry for the first 7 days, if you're humidity is between 30-40%. And then on day 7 check your air cells to see if they are good or if you need to increase/decrease.

Don't use higher humidity for duck eggs, go with the range Ruby said... if it goes higher, they won't lose enough moisture and will be gooey...

@RavynFallen

Wow just wow. This is how to ship eggs every body. These eggs are pristine. Only one air sac has a slight wobble and are all tiny. I can't see anything in the marans though.
I am so happy, I welled up just a little while unpacking them. I just can't praise Ravyn enough. Thank you so much.

Inside box 2, these eggs were not going anywhere.

Each egg individually wrapped in bubble wrap.

Ready to unwrap.

Just beautiful. They all felt cool to touch. They will sit on kitchen counter until I set them in the incubator tomorrow morning.

I am absolutely amazed by the brilliant packaging and not one detached air cell. Bloody marvelous!

So happy they made it to you in good condition!!! Looks like they didn't beat the box up horribly either...

Btw, I found putting those stickers on the boxes caused those boxes to get targeted for punting practice... simple fragile and this end up works really well...

so as long as the temp is stable ,regardless of the humidity level, we can add the eggs?

Yes.  If humidity in the incubator remains variable between 30-40%, all should be good until lockdown.

x2

And you'll see the temp drop for a while after putting the eggs in, do not adjust the temp, just give it a full day to adjust...

i think it was Ruby who was asking about blue and splash. This is a chart I got off the silkie thread.

Walnut, we got Corid. I put 2 tsp in a one gallon watered for the chicks. And I gave about 3/4 syringe of water/Corid to te three worse chicks.

That's the same chart I printed out. Good job :thumbsup

Well I just went out to a sad sight. While checking under Betty the Broody for stolen eggs, I found a little mummy. Looks like it may have tried to pip, and then got shrink-wrapped in the external membrane, A lot of the shell was off, but the white membrane was fused to the little body. I peeled a bit, and the yolk sac was half absorbed. seemed to be in the right position though.

So I brought in the other egg, not sure if it was the "good egg" or "bad egg" and of course, it's all dark with an appropriate air cell. No movement, no internal pip. Decided to water candle before thinking about opening it, and nothing, until I went to reach to take it out and it twitched.

So I fired up the incubator, set it at 99.4 and 70% humidity. Figured I would give it a day or three and see what happens, Betty can have the golf ball for now. I think it's day 19 today.

"The words didn't even show up"

They didn't .... and I typed those ^^ because they didn't show up again.... what's going on here??

SC is stealing them in an attempt to shut me up.....

Ok so I bought a digital thermometer&humidity gauge. Digital is reading 101.3* & 30% RA, the thermometer I calibrated with my candy thermometer is reading 100.5*, the lid is reading 96* & 39% humidity. I dont have any water in there yet. Should I add a little water and see if the temp holds for an hour or two before adding the eggs?
I would leave it alone as long as it stays above 25% and only add water if the air cells grow too fast.

The humidity in the incubator will be different due to the higher heat and confined space, but like Ruby said, try it dry first and see what you have, then adjust from there if needed

Pretty much as long as you are between 30-40%
