I was wondering about this! Down at my neighbors, his Roos will try to mate the younger chickens. I asked him if that meant that the younger ones are girls and he wasn't sure. So the males will try to mate young girls or boys??

I have only seen the d'Uccle do it, but who could blame him? They are beautiful

So far this is the first problem I've had with two together. My oldest 2 in the first coop are great together. They accept one's a leader and the other is not. Never had a problem other than the one being human aggressive. But unfortunetly Gibbs is just not one of those roos that can share, even if he's not being challenged. It's a shame, but if I can find a home that'll keep him it would make it much easier.... why are the good looking males always a pain??? Hmm??? Can you tell me why? You can base it one personal experience.....

sounds like elvis might need to be the one to go . or just kept separate . It is hard but you really sound like you don't want to give up either .remember dons barrels . I do and think about them a lot .small cheap weather proof and I remember him saying he kept his roosters separate . another pen to feed is all

Elvis isn't going if he makes it. He's my pure spitz and usually calm. I wouldn't get rid of my calm one for an over dominant one. I'd rather have the more gentle roo, plus he's my roo for my spitz hen.

My co pilot and I treked an hour 1 way to see the avian vet about his bumble. Turns out to be a septic joint but got some antibiotics to hopefully help (open to administration suggestions). Then it was nap time on the way home after snacking on some organic kale & beet greens
