She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

That prototype coop looks great, better than what you can get from the feed store. I love the silkie, like a fluff of cotton. Congrats on the hatch, fingers & toes crossed she pulls thru!
I candled 36 eggs (it reeked when I opened the lid) found 4 were cracked :( seen veins in at least 10. Most look like I was looking at candy corn or orange jello inside the egg.
400

Air cells look good. Between the size of a nickel and a quarter

Ugh, sorry for the cracked and stinkers... x2 I hope you found all those... look ok, remember day 7 is very early still for duck eggs, so give them some more time before pulling ones that aren't showing veins yet... :)

x2!

So I got my new iPhone today. Now I know what you guys were talking about with the words that come up! Lol. Anyway, I tired out the camera on the phone and it takes beautiful pics! And I let the pea chicks out to free range today. They are going back to their rightful owner on Monday. Sad but also for the best because I can't keep them. Here's some pics from me sitting with the animals today.

Cute chicks! Those puffballs are ridiculous!

I have a horrible feeling that Miracle is not going to survive. She appears to be gasping. I think it maybe omphalitis caused by the filthy condition of the eggs. I really want to slap that cow who sent me those eggs. I have her wrapped up in the incubator and if she is still alive in the morning it will be a true miracle. I am pretty p.o'd right about now.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe she will be alright! I am rethinking assisted hatches, myself. Feeling red; thinking blue.

I hope she makes it.
Have you communicated with that cow again? I think we should all go slap her. One at a time, of course, then maybe all at once!

Agreed 100%

Who claimed to be sane????

Certainly not me.

Fingers crossed! They will figure it out.
Looks like a little veining in there. I hope you found all the stinkies and got them out!

How is Howard doing now?

Howard is better. Swelling down a little and not limping as much. :)

yea not planning on tossing any just yet, just the stinkers. Is it normal to look like a big orange blob?

Glad to hear Howard is better.
And I think many of mine looked like big orange blobs. I assume it may be the size of the yolk that makes some look more yellow than others. Or maybe its the darker yolks on ducks. But your pic looks fine to me.

I figured it was still early. DH swears he saw veins in a few I did not. When should I toss any duds? Closer to 20 days?

By days 10-14 you should see good movement, and easily be able to tell which ones are developing or not. It doesn't hurt to leave them as long as you aren't positive, as long as they don't smell bad. You will know. My ducks were alot more active in the shell than my chickens. Its amazing once they start moving, how much they swim around in there. They are ducks after all!

Ruby, all of my Calls are from shipped eggs... :) I am here when you need anything... btw, send me a PM on your egg deal... I know a good one to get eggs from depending on what you want... :)
So... when were you coming over to build mine?? ;)
Love those peachicks... adorable giants, lol...
Yay!! Good job assisting and glad you got a survivor... :)
Absolutely gorgeous!!! Looks so serene and beautiful... :)

I will send you a pm. Gotta look up the info on my old phone.

Are you serious? That stinks. Update when you can. :hugs

Lovely pics, everyone. :) I'm happy for you, Chicapee that Miracle survived!!

Ruby, WV, 8gb is so tiny! 16gb is small! I didn't want to end up running out of space within a year so I just went ahead for the 64gb. More than half is already full.

I know, I couldn't do anything on that phone anymore. I thought I upgraded to 32 but just remembered that's not an option, it is 64 too. I never thought I'd be one of those old people that can't keep up with technology. But it happened.

Sounds good to me.

Just for the record, I have 4gb sd card in my phone.

I have a cheap cheap smartphone, hate the thing, has next to no internal memory-thing sucks. But anyway I've had the 4gb for as long as I've had it and I think that's 2 years+ lol
