Just a quick check in - I am in Denver with my daughter's family, getting ready to babysit the grandkids. Was able to put both kids to bed without too much trouble, although the baby was not happy because I'm not mom.

I just got back from the county fair...no poultry because of the AI event this year, but Joe Nichols played a good show.

I saw some really nice looking steers and hogs. Is it bad when I walk through the show barns and all I see is potential meat?

OK….here is my update on the last Candling results. The size of the air cells on the remaining 14 eggs I have in my J24 incubator vary in size. I have several that seem like the perfect position and size, while in a few others I see some air cells that seem not large enough, or others that the air cell do NOT have perfect symmetry and almost seem tilted, or lopsided.

Do I continue to maintain the humidity around 35-40, or do I lower it to allow the eggs with not as large air cell sizes to increase in size? and how much lower should I reduce the humidity to?

Shoot for the average. There will always be some variations.

Before you make any changes, is there any pattern in the size of the air cells in relation to the location in the incubator? Sometimes the eggs directly under the fan will have larger air cells, for example. Sometimes they are simply more porous or older eggs.

The tilt is called drawdown, and it is a normal occurrence. Ideally the chick will pip into this dipped area and then create the external pip there as well. This typically happens around day 18.

I think this was already covered but the tilt is a good thing. The rest of the eggs should follow suit and start tilting also. Then the smaller ones should start increasing and then tilting too. That's why a hatch can take up to 2 days because some eggs will be ready before the others. But over all that sounds good.
