She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

That's very nice of you to be so honest. But I'm sure they still look awesome!

I love the color of those babies! Will they grow up to look like mom?
If I do ever decide to start shipping eggs, I wouldn't want anyone to say I misrepresented them. Now that I am getting darker eggs, I will get a marans chart to include in the pictures.
The banatams will look just like the moms, but either black or yellow based. They are way too white for SQ, but pretty little birds. The rooster is throwing both colors, so I get 25% yellow from a black hen and 25% black from a yellow hen.

they are looking good color is coming along it's strange some days you'll find all lite eggs. others will be all dark .and others will be mixed .really looking forward to my pullet eggs . to see what next generation looks like .
Yeah, my colors are all over the place. These last few very dark ones have to be from a post-molt hen, but it gives me hope for the future of the egg color. I hope that carries over into the chicks I'm hatching. That's why I'm going to grow these out instead of selling the chicks. I need a good foundation of layers. Right now I only have 7 hens, and I think only 3 of those are laying really dark. I'm curious to see what the pullets come up with after their first molt

Got it. I love the black and white ones!! And the mom is beautiful! I love the shape to her!...no what I mean? What kind is she?

You don't know how bad I wanted to keep the joke going over here, but you had already been hooked deep enough:gig
Did you not notice that the thread was 3 years old and just got bumped by a newbie? I don't know what in the world they put in the search engine to find that :gig
Yep. Well thanks for stopping it. The last two posts besides mine and yours were from 4/13/15 and today. So it didn't look old.

Don't feel bad about it. That was a great start to my day

I candled my shipped eggs quickly as I was tilting them tonight. I'm so mad at myself for not going with overnight shipping!!

I at least, lost another two. The veins are receding and it looks like black blobs stuck on the side of the egg! That's 6 I've lost and a couple more look iffy. I hate tilting them too. It looks like all the stuff is settled in the pointy end of the egg. Maybe tomorrow (day 12) I'll really candle and lay the ones that are still alive on their side and turn. What do you guys think? It's just so disappointing. At this point I'll just be happy with a pair. A very expensive pair!
You should see the items on the school supply list! Pack of multi-sized post-it notes, 3-pack box of tissues, Clorox wipes, dry erase markers, sharpie markers, erasable pens, etc, etc, etc. it's becoming insanity. I'm not "staples".
Sorry about all the egg problems.
Yes, that's exactly what I am talking about with school supplies. In kindergarten my son has a meltdown (he has shown various aspergers/autism tendancies in the past) because his favorite color was red and they were allowed to do their math homework in marker and he wanted to do red, but there was no red available because another little girl at his table had the red marker. He ended up in TO not doing his work because of it. While I acknowledged my son needed to learn you don't always get what you want, the fact that I bought him a whole package of markers and he should have them available to him, but instead has been pushed into a meltdown and not doing his work over something so silly really got me. This community sharing crap is BS. I wouldn't have minded sending in a few extra things but when the kids dont have access to what we do send in, it's ridiculous. Yes, I'm done SC.....lol

I will try to remember to plug my phone in before candling. My tablet doesn't take the best pictures.

@AmyLynn2374 & @RubyNala97 I felt the same way when we lived in the metropolitan area the list was like 7 notebooks, 2 packs of blue pens, 2 packs of pencils, sticky notes, dry erase markers, 2 boxes Kleenex, Clorox wipes, paper towel ect ect ect. But up here in the country I bought all the stuff once but first day of school the teacher/school had all that waiting on their desks. So now I wait for the teachers ask 2-3 months later.
I live in a rural podunk town, but that's how they do it here.

Is it bad when I walk through the show barns and all I see is potential meat?
Yes...lol

DAY 16-17 CANDLING…..

OK….here is my update on the last Candling results. The size of the air cells on the remaining 14 eggs I have in my J24 incubator vary in size. I have several that seem like the perfect position and size, while in a few others I see some air cells that seem not large enough, or others that the air cell do NOT have perfect symmetry and almost seem tilted, or lopsided.

Do I continue to maintain the humidity around 35-40, or do I lower it to allow the eggs with not as large air cell sizes to increase in size? and how much lower should I reduce the humidity to?
Unless you have a majority of overly large air cells, I'd leave it where it is. As been stated the tilt is natural. Mine usually have significantly tilted, or started by the 14 day candle, just like the air cells in the egg charts.

Well, there are 32 eggs in there, temp is staying stable and humidity is running about 34%.
Here we go!

Kind of like paying thousands in education taxes every year when you don't have kids, huh?
She's beautiful! What breed?
When you said 32 I was shocked. I thought you got the 20. Then I realized they were tiny eggs.

silly me
She had me confused too.

Gratuitous broody shot:

Nice!
The pic didn't come up, but judging by the thread title, I'd say you and Ross need to quit posting at the same time

I know, it took me a while to realize it was from Star Trek. But look at this pic

I think they just nicknamed them tribbles. They're a kind of silkie apparently if they're real

Oh to be young again. When do you start school back up?? We're mandating a fiction lesson.

It's ok, you're a young un. We'll only pick on you a little bit.
