they look good . standard breeding practice is through the male reason being Its much cheaper to change the male than the whole flock of hens providing the female is at lest 50% of the quality of the male then the changes are 50/50 you would like the hen to be 75% of the quality of the male. genetics are a gamble with every hatch. its possible for two bad looking birds to have a really nice chick but not very likely. Its very possible for two great looking birds to have a dud. you really have to stay detached from your rooster or be willing to inbreed . the old saying is if its a good chicken its line breeding if its a bad chicken its inbreeding . if breeding a rooster to its pullets then the offspring will be 75% of the Rooster could be good or bad but it happens a lot in chicken breeding . when building a breed line breeding is how they do it . this produces a of culls that have to be dealt with and they end up as sub breeds .I'll let you figure out what one of the most common one is the heart defect in the Cornish cross is a result of inbreeding I would think. Gotta take my son back to the Dr. will catch up latter.
