She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

The risk of moving the eggs and damaging the embryos is higher than the risk of letting them cool. Blanket them and sit it out.
Hope she didn't listen to us, then!

Unfortunately, it's the addicts and ones who want to 'live off the system' that make things the most difficult for people who really need the help... I have much more I feel about this, but will leave it at that...

FridayYet & chicapee thank you for choosing such a selfless occupation and for all the work you have done helping others...

You beat me to it! But you also helped me out. I had an entire essay written on the subject, but decided to check the new posts before I posted. lol Think I'll trim it down a notch or two.

I was going to let that go, but I worked in a hospital for 20 years and saw doctors and staff work so hard to help people. Millions of dollars in charity care, unpaid overtime, etc.

Where did you get your information Silkie, the Internet?
Dr. Mercola.

I don't think Silkie has a problem with all docs.
That's great! Welcome to the thread.

I have been a nurse for over 30 years and worked the ER for most of them. You definately see alot of time wasters and drug seekers. You can generally tell who is genuine. Testing is very sophisticated these days and can mostly pin point a problem if its real. However, there are some elusive problems, that can take a while to diagnose correctly.

That's why I phrased my comment the way I did. I KNOW Docs and Nurses see more than their fair share of "time wasters and drug seekers" and they were all VERY nice to me until my CT scans came back and showed them nothing, then I couldn't get the time of day out of any of them. Still cordial, but completely unconcerned. It made me feel really crumby. At that point, I did want some sort of pain killer(b/c they had no answers and that was all I could hope for). I have been taking 3200mg of Ibuprofen and 3000mg of Tylenol daily.

I try to understand calloused nurses and docs the same way as police officers: They are over-worked and over-stressed, and they see the worst of the worst, day in and out(especially in an ER). I am not the least bit surprised when that takes it's toll.

I don't see how you do it, @chicapee . Is it a trauma center? What's your position?

Guess that makes you and me part of the evil hospital system that just takes people's money and doesn't try to heal them.

Oh and gachooks, my irritation is not directed at you. I hope you find some answers and solutions to your pain.

They are cutting back on Tylenol for everyone to prevent accidental overdoses. I used to work on a transplant unit and trust me, you want to protect your liver!
Thanks. The nurse freaked a little when I told her how much tylenol and motrin I was taking, but the internet told me it was okay. lol

I know this is going to sound kiss brass and corny, and I will probably get smacked for it, but I never have the opportunity to say this IRL(without sounding like a suck-up), and it's something I always want to say, so to @FridayYet and chicapee: Thank you for your service. I think people involved in the medical profession who try their best to help people honestly deserve more respect than they get. There are bad apples out there, and i believe the system as a whole is motivated by greed, but the individuals who really try, make all the difference. So thanks.

Okay, I'm going back to my cynical, unemotional, like a rock self now. Time to try to get to sleep again. Night, chicken heads!

Yep, Asian's use it all the time so I rarely eat any Asian buffet restaurants. They pump their food full of it! Which makes me sad. :( I've gotten to the point where I can taste MSG, HFCS, and aspartame in food so I'm a picky eater when eating out. I think the longer life span is due to all the veggies we eat! :D Thanks! I'm not sure the mama likes it
I can taste artifical sweeteners. But I love me some MSG. @Dan I will read that artcial when I get the chance.
Quote: Ahhh, Dr. Mercola. Thanks. ;) :welcome I think the kid's gonna be alright. :D Quote: Interesting thoughts about the wild birds and Turkeys. That's super cool about your lasagna! I've been reading a good bit about it and think it's the way to go for us. We just bought a huge tiller last year, but it's so BIG and sq ft, no till gardening just makes more sense to me until we have enough land to require a real tractor, like Mr. Bigflock up there--even then. . . We are currently working on a plan to start a breeding program. I think we are going to choose the same layout Carroll Abbott(The Chick Innkeeper) uses for our breeding runs. Maximum security, covered runs, measuring about 5'x25' each with about 5 runs to start with and three sided coops at each end for laying and winter shelter. Then we are going to run new fencing around about a half acre of grass and 1 1/2 acres of woods for our free-ranging layers, which will be Rhodebars, Australorps and mixes. I'm excited. I can't wait for fall! Nothing like working in that kid of weather! Also thinking about building a few tractors to grow out meat birds. They go for 30 bucks a processed bird around here. Hoping we can grow out around 50 every few months and help with the income a bit. Edit: Looks like it's time for bed. Night all! :frow
I cant remember what I was going to say here!!! :lau Man I'm bad.....:gig
wow silkie you really like doctors don't you .
That is why I like holistic approaches.

I don't trust pharmaceutical companies. I hate taking anything that is not natural.

:hit I'm so stressed out!! I had the incubator lid off last night and I was candling. I was almost on the last egg and the power went out! I don't have a generator or any backup. So I called my electric company and they told me their was an auto accident that knocked down a pole and that it would be out for several hours. So I panicked. I wrapped each egg, loosely in a paper towel and put them in a styro carton. And drove them and the incubator to my grandma's house that lives only a couple miles away. Of course the power came back on a few hours later. If I would have waited it out, it would have been out all night. Now I have to go back to her house and pick them up. This hatch was just never meant to be! I'm getting a small generator before spring hatches! Is there any hope left for these guys? I drove with them on my lap, very slow...

I worked in a hospital for a few years, in the accounting office and in the trauma office (I'm non-clinical) but the trauma unit opened my eyes big time. So I also try to look at both sides of the coin. Its frustrating for everyone.

I'm sure you coddled them as best as you could. But remember the embryos are suspended in the shell by nothing more than the chalazae holding the yolk, and the blood vessels to the air cell. If you are bringing them back home. follow the same process, then place them back in the incubator and do not disturb them, much as if you were setting shipped eggs, for at least several hours. What day are you on? If not day 4-14, leave them 24 hours without moving. Then gently candle and look for hemorrhages. Minor bleeds may stop, but a major tear will probably mean the death of the embryo.

Today is lockdown. So I will not touch them!! :fl
