She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Sweet... I have a batch of Lav/Splits in (oops, gotta look to see what day I'm on) and will be doing another batch of shipped eggs in next couple days... thinking to make it my last this season...

I thought she had just passed day 14 at least, that's why I said move them... last time our power was out I had a staggered hatch, one set was a week in the other was in lockdown... those poor lockdown chicks had a reall, really hard time and almost didn't make it...

Cant wait to see those lav/splits!!

Sure, you say this after I've spent a week reading and I'm 5500 posts in...

That's ok, I've learned a lot reading and will keep reading.

No, it's a microwave! C'mon, BYC, you should know that! :lau

Just for the record, I knew Ruby was going into lockdown or I would never have mentioned moving the eggs!

I've also had a power pole taken out by a drunk driver and "a couple hours" ended up being 9 or 10. (Both times, same pole, same curve!)

Hoping for the best for everyone's hatches!

Yes, the lady on the phone said "the whole pole is down, so we're trying to get people together now to fix it. It will be several hours." Honestly, when I left to drive them, the main highway was blocked off because all the traffic lights were out. I'm shocked we got power back so quick (2 hrs). But part of me knows, that if I hadn't gone, it would not have come back on all night. Life just works that way. They rode on my lap the whole way and I went very slow. Less then a 5 minute ride! I'll know tonight.

Ruby, I feel your stress re: power outages.  My experience has been that I live in a very rural area, and my electricity comes to me after every body else on the grid has used it.  (A bit of Brit humor there).  So, we often lose power, and often for lengthy periods of time.  (13 days once).  When incubating, when the power goes out, I just wrap the bator in a bunch of blankets and hope for the best.  I did get a convertor that would run the bator in a pinch (hooked up to a battery or car cig lighter, and would use that if faced with an extended outage.  But... with your chicklets being so close to hatch, they are generating plenty of their own heat.  There are some neat articles in the learning center about temperature changes, lapses of incubation in relation to embryo age that will help you to guide your decision process in future hatches.  BTW, I've lost power repeatedly on more than one hatch, and the hatches were just fine, not even delayed.  PP mentioning the stress of moving embryos with their fragile membranes bears merit, and I tend to agree with that position.  On the other side of the coin, are the teachers who transport their bators home for tending, and then back to school every weekend, and they have acceptable hatches.  Would their rates be higher if they didn't transport?  Who knows.  Point is, the little egglets are pretty tough, and often forgiving of less than ideal circumstances.

Thank you. I will buy one of those car adapters before my next hatch, or a generator. I had just been candling with the lid off the incubator, so I knew the temp had already dropped inside the incubator to room temp. (It's a brinsea mini). I couldn't bare letting them get cold after just seeing them moving around in the shell! I'm telling you, every hatch I have a new experience and I learn so much! In a couple years, I'll be prepared and ready for anything!!!
(Maybe I'll just have to order more eggs...lol)

Sadly that's the way hospitals and doctors treat people nowadays. Give you an expensive pill to cover up the pain, not heal it :he

wow silkie  you really like doctors don't you .
Woah wait a sec. I DID NOT put those rant emojis there. :idunno just want to clarify that, so no one thinks I'm "Doctors are bad stay away" person.
I don't think they're bad, it's just when they're forcing you to take this this this and this, people should be given a choice. And I know lots of people are healed by doctors, and lots of people on here are nurses and doctors and I'm not pointing a finger at you and saying you're all that above. I'm sure you genuinely care about your profession and I'm not trying to trash talk y'all in the least. :)
Friday, I apologize if I sounded like I was doing the above to you, I did not mean that AT ALL. :hugs
Four years of study is how I have my info about what we were all talking about.
Ross, I very much prefer the holistic approach as well. :highfive: another reason for me to like you better :D

That's it!!! More eggs!!! More eggs = more sets = more experience = more confidence = more chickens = more hatching options = desire to set more eggs.
