She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

So today starts day 25. Going to toss the duds and remove the turner. I didnt see any movement when I candled Sunday so I am hoping for at least 1 to hatch. If not I think I am going to wait until February/March to try again.

Its been a while since we had some duckling pics, hope to see some from you in a few days!

I just followed the link to your treatise on humidity. I'm SUPER IMPRESSED!
No clue how you manage everything you have on your plate, but a whole bunch of folks certainly are blessed that you do. Thanks.
Thank you.

No, the plugs are still in, I was worried they'd let out to much heat and humidity, should I remove them?
I have my vents open start to finish. I adjust my temps for them being open and it stil holds good.

sorry guys totally out of the loop right now just had a really hard weekend. did however finish one job over done no going back . last night worst of all got in after dark and went to feed my horses . my favorite one was down rolling on the ground colic , really bad tried to save him but couldn't. did all I could but there was no hope .Its kinda like I've lost my kid . right now really depressed about that but I'll feel better after I get some sleep haven't had much in the past three days . love this thread though don't know what I skimmed on that made laugh . but It did and I needed a laugh even a small one. Wife made me feel a little better about my horse though .she said she was happy he looked so good for his age . he was 29 years old I raised him from a baby there when he was born first foal on the farm .so without even trying to read more I'm turning in early tonight . finish trailer story sometime tomorrow .

Day 14 update. 32 eggs set. 6 were clear, 2 have quit. So 24 still looking great! (13 golden sebrights, 1 silver sebright, 6 BTBJ, 4 SD OEGB)
fl.gif

I also realized that one of the clears, and one of the quitters were 2 eggs that she pulled while I was there picking up the eggs, so they were laid the day I set them.

I weighed a few too (I wish I'd quit doing that!) and the weight loss is a bit high, but the air cells look fine, so I'm not touching anything yet. But maybe if these don't do well, next time I will increase the humidity a bit, if the weight loss is that high.
Good vibes for the eggs!!! Almost there!

Me too! Out of the 31 there were 7 original hopefuls and only 1 that could be a contender. But I am not hold my breath

Good luck little ducks!

I totally forgot that I wanted to tell you guys about my first hatching egg nightmare! I had this dream last night that felt so real. My shipped eggs had come in and I put them in an egg carton to rest before setting them, on my kitchen counter. I was really hungry and decided to make pancakes. Without realizing it, I used all the shipped eggs in the batter. I sat down and was eating a huge mound of pancakes, butter, and maple syrup. The pancakes were so good! I was thinking "I wonder why these pancakes came out so good, they are the best"! And then it hit me. I ran and looked in the carton with the shipped eggs and they were all gone!! I panicked. My mom and my grandma were there, so I ran to tell them what I just did. My mom says "you're so irresponsible, you've wasted so much money on eggs, you better not buy anymore"! I was so upset!! When I woke up, I had one of those moments where you're so relieved it was just a dream!! :lau

I see you're in here playing catchup this morning, so here's another one for you:
I put 6 eggs in my Hova-bator model 2362N (circulated air) 2 days ago, after firing it up the previous day Two different thermometers holding steady @ about 99 degrees. Also removed all but two of the turner racks. I'd already filled the troughs before I saw your article on dry incubation, so I popped both vents & let it be; didn't want to let the temp drop by removing the top long enough to remove the water. Don't figure to mess with it til day 7, when I candle. Waiting on a hygrometer from Amazon.

Anything else I should be doing, or am I pretty much headed in the right direction?

OK...more like Hooters.....

That skunk that I accidentally kicked a couple weeks ago, has been back for two nights in a row now. I went outside late last night and we both startled each other but he didn't run away. And he's back now. It looks like a different skunk but the chances of that are slim. I think he is young and growing. He better steer clear of my chicken coop!!

What part of "set and forget" are you missing?

When using a have-a-heart, I switch to this one. It's easier on the trap
