She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I am totally serious here, go full blue on this hatch. Set them, don't candle them until lockdown, keep your humidity right, and don't worry yourself needlessly for the next three weeks. I bet you would be pleasantly surprised at the end

Haven't we already proven that blue does not equal perfect? Seems thinking back, that the red side has the higher percentages going on now.

I just can't fathom how someone with as beautiful chicks as she has, and sells hatching eggs, can't pack any better than that! I'm at a loss! I guess since you've already spent the money, you might as well try them. It sure is disappointing, but maybe they will surprise you and reattach. :hugs

Thank you!!

What would happen if you let them rest another day before popping them into the oven?

Do you think that would be better? I was planning on setting tonight which would be 32 hrs. Tomorrow a few of the eggs will be 7 days old. What do you think?

No candling until lockdown? Seriously, I think you're right. They need me to be as hands off as possible. No candling till lockdown. Sorry, I'm just trying to really let that sink in! I'm going to ask the kids to hide both my flashlights I use for candling and not give them over even if I beg!! I was thinking of keeping humidity between 35-40% so the air cells don't get to big, since they will be all distorted shapes. Thank you!!

The red side isn't hatching BCM, but it's not about percentages, it's about sanity. What will candling do to improve the hatch? It's not like you can sprinkle fix-a-hatch on the eggs that aren't developing to make them develop. You can fret and worry over every egg that doesn't look right at every candling, or you can look at it like a Christmas where you get to peek under the paper on Dec. 22 :thumbsup

I haven't "handled" mine much at all this time actually. Heck, most of them are too tight in the rails to get out anyway. I have only removed maybe 6 of the 32, to totally candle and weigh. I thought that was pretty good, for a candling addict. But I do lift the lid and candle them in place.... whenever I feel like it!

I'm not going to argue with you. You know where I stand. Goes back to the original reason for the thread, right?

(poor BCMs... so hard to hatch.... waahhhhh!)

I have no defense for 55% hatches of my own eggs

, I just know that all of my other hatches were 85%+ until I started with these evil little creatures.
Blue/Red does not really pertain to the first 18 days, it's more what you do during the hatch. Candling won't make the eggs hatch any better, it will just give you guys something to worry about for the next few weeks. Needlessly

Or it gives us something to look forward to, and At

Day 3 candle results: 24 heartbeating eggs, 5 clear, 2 possible early death. Looking for the early death and clear ratios to be high in this case. These eggs arent mine, and i know his drake:duck ratio is bad, the hens are stressed from the overbreeding.

And besides, in the entire history of the world, worrying has never solved a thing, so why court a case of ulcers over something you can't control anyway?

Oh really? You gonna go there with the "women" comment, when you are so seriously outnumbered on gender here? Pa-leeze. :gig

And why did you tell her to "go blue" then?

I'm just saying that personally I know I would worry more if I didn't candle at all. That's all, that's just me.

Still a good start!
