She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I may need someone to tell me what they think about some turkey eggs I'm incubating.
I seem to think only 2 out of 12(9 now) are good.

Sorry I am late to your question, I've been on the road for the past week.

I'm always hatching turkeys, what can I help you with?

For candling, by day 4/5 you may see a slightly peach tinted glow when you candle, but blood vessel development isn't always obvious until day 7/8 depending on shell pigmentation. Stinkers are usually evident by day 14 but always sniff test when you add water or when you hand turn. I had one in this incubator load that I found in the outdoor run, it must have been buried for a while. :gag. When candled, it showed an irregular mass not at all like a clear, but no blood vessels.

I start incubating at ambient humidity for the first 9 days, add a little water as needed to average 30%-359% up until day 24, then stop turning. Since I am often not home, using this method I can raise the humidity at lockdown to 75% for hatching with the vents wide open and I do my best not to interfere until hatch, as turkey outer membranes toughen up when exposed to air.

Did you ever try the brinsea disinfectant?
Did you candle the other eggs? Did they never develop?

a few looked like they wanted to develop but I never really saw any movement.

Sorry about your hatch, OMC.   This may sound ridiculous, but our meat thermometers are still working great.  Budget-friendly temp gauges that have been spot on since we learned how to test them properly.

Here's hoping your next hatch is all popcorn!

That is funny because I was thinking about grabbing a meat thermometer lol

Gorgeous birds Sally!!

Moving right along here. I can see 6 pips. 4 of those are BTB Japs and 2 are SD OEGBs.

YAY!!
Beatiful chickens! I love the coloring of the one in the first picture on the left that all you can see is the tail feathers. Is it gray or blue?
she is a lav americauna my hubs wanted to keep, she is a freeloader!

Enjoy your day everyone! I have to get in gear for our family picnic!

Making some Shrimp/smoked Sausage skewers,
meatballs encased in layered butter biscuits baked, then smothered in butter, garlic and parm cheese, dipping sauce!
Chicken and mushroom skewers,
Dev eggs & hot dogs (of course)
Salted Pretzel Caramel Brownies
Strawberry pretzel salad
and we are going to make the kiddos "alch free" Seductive Swan drinks
(just a lemon sugared rim glass with mashed blackberries in bottom, crushed ice and lemon aid)

Will be lovely!!!

Wish I was going.
Have a wonderful day.

It was too wet to do much investigation but it has to be coming through underneath the nest boxes as there are no holes a fly could get through in the walls or roof, and no holes elsewhere in the floor. If the weather is ok I will detach the Roost to see if there are signs of entry under the nest boxes. I would be betting on a snake or rodent, although it should still be too cold for the snakes to be active.
