She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Stopped at home before coming to check on my girls at camp, and guess what? The chick in the bator is still alive! The bator is turned off, but its still alive. Now I'm wondering if it might have hatched if I had just left it turned on. I'm blaming my hubby. :hit

I'm blue, we all know this, but I would have culled it already. Even if you left the heat on, it was so late that I would bet money that even if it did hatch, it would have had leg and toe issues. The easiest thing to do is to just make the egg disappear however you see fit

I know. I just expected it to expire while I was at work today.

I'm a redneck, so obviously I'm a truck guy. I've had them all except Dodge/Ram. My problem with them is a great Cummins motor with Dodge wrapped around it. My favorites were a Duramax and a Powerstroke, still driving the Ford. I liked certain things about them both. Would rather drive the Chevy, would rather tow with the Ford

We use a Ram 1500 4x4 as a HD pickup. Offroad hauling of 1500 lb plus oak firewood in the bed then 160 miles on the road, or a ton of feed on a pallet. The Dodges work well for us, we got 145,000 miles of this abuse out of the first one.

Never tried a diesel, my dad has a '99 Dodge 2500 Cummins 4x4 pushing 200k that is a ranch truck.

That's why I toss all the eggs when I turn the incubator off...

I couldn't toss it after reading about a few "trash can" hatches recently. I guess I could have thrown it out in the woods, but that's just not me. At least this way I know it wasn't viable. It couldn't make it out on its own. That's about the only good point I can find right now.

It's tough, and the more you hatch the more it happens. I understand that you can't throw it in the woods, but the "trash can chicks" are exactly why I do. Once I decide an egg is gone, it is gone.
There's nothing you could have done. Some just aren't meant to hatch, and culling them when they are fluffy is much worse. At least you have so many strong, healthy ones that hatched

Sure does, but I guess it comes with hatching...
I know it doesn't help, but the last two I helped out late I had to cull later for leg issues. Wish I would have let them break out or not. I would give them time, but I won't help anymore unless my bator is running too dry or something.
