hi all! i apologize if this is the wrong section to inquire about this, but after cracking one of my ducks' eggs this morning for breakfast, i found a small mass on the yolk of the egg. it's roughly the size of a sunflower seed. we have males on our property, but they don't have easy access to the females, so it would be odd if they managed to fertilize an egg; i'm not thinking it's an embryo. is this potentially salpingitis or a large meat spot? any help in identifying this would be greatly appreciated. here are some relevant photos:

edit: i forgot to add that upon dissecting, it was a uniformly firm texture, with a dark red/brown interior. the rest of the egg was completely fine with no abnormalities or odor. there was a sort of bloody odor on the mass itself, but i had to really get close to smell anything (yuck).

That looks like a “meat spot” to me. It is just a bit of tissue from the duck. Common and no big deal. I just pick it out because it looks gross.
good to know! i've seen plenty of blood spots, but somehow all these years i've never chanced upon a meat spot(or at least not one i've noticed). freaky looking little thing:sick! thank you kindly for your help!
