She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

You know, just a couple of years ago I wouldn't have gotten that joke

If I use a hammer that long, I can't move my wrist any more

always heard if you soak the wood the nails pull easier . if the pallet is made of oak and ring shank nails or spiral nails . tear apart is tear up most of the time . I don't use them in construction . my nail guns split them out shooting 16 ring shanks . I've framed a few houses with hammer and nail . and don't use one more than I need to . but I've been lucky getting old deck lumber from my jobs. what I can I use what I can't goes to taco city. .

Finally got a call from my Dad, he's recovering and the surgery went well!  (My dad is a super high risk for surgery and recently finished a super long course of chemo for two kinds of lymphoma)
Doctor reassured him he got all the colon cancer and he should get out of the hospital on Sunday if it all goes well. :weee

That is excellent news!! :yesss:
When you have different breeds how do you go about mating. I find have to worry about that yet. At the moment I have my 2 boys in a bachelor tractor and the others are still young. Do you all have a pen for separate breeds? Do you do individual matings? If so how long do you keep a pair together? For example with my asian blues I have one girl and 2 boys. One boy is very aggressive and he will be dinner as soon as Jay gets a day off. So I would put the girl and boy together for how long. When is the first egg fertile?

This is what's stopping me from getting another breed. I want to so bad but I can't have a separate coop/run right now and really want pure eggs.

I'm planning on having a sub-pen by next year and will keep my breeding trio of Orloffs in it for a month, then gather all the eggs and set them.  Anything from that pen will be pure Orloff, anything from the outside will be EE, OE, or Wheaten Ameraucana.  (Well at least that's my plan)  After that, they can all run around together and the pen will be for the grow-outs.

Thanks.  All year my father has been battling through chemo and has been looking forward to coming down to visit for the Balloon Fiesta.  (My mom, of course, has been worried sick about how the interruption in routine affected her dog.  :he )  On a follow-up PET scan, he had a hot spot of colon cancer, so had to go in for surgery a few days ago.

He's still convinced they'll be down here in 3 weeks, I told him to wait and let the doctor decide that in a few weeks.

:lau  True!

Those orloff eggs would be amazing for the spring hatch along. And I can totally relate about your mother. I was raised by my grandparents and my grandfather has had heart failure all year (he's doing ok) but my grandmother was way more concerned with how it was affecting her life...you know, someone else's heart failure can be a real inconvenience on another's social life. :/
Great news again... the eggs I shipped to UT are at 100% development so far... :D

Why don't you breed silkies??!!!! :hit
