Thanks for the love, Cynthia!

Honestly I am not sure. I won them at a swap..... I wish I knew.

Would love to see pics, please? :)

LOL, your terrible!  I call my DH the same thing "almost" he refuses to go near a broody hen.  MEEEE, well I just smack them upside the head if they go to peck me, they learn fast, they still make a fuss but no more pecking.  Griefffff....Now someone will say I abuse my chickens, and in thinking about that, I guess I do abuse them cause I had chicken for supper

I manhandle my broody's... if they are too vicious, they get broke... my good ones let me do anything I need to and they get to brood more chicks, lol...

Hey ya'll, sorry I haven't been on in a while. Had my hands full with school starting again and these eggs. They are still alive but I have a ?, I'm sure this isn't possible but I wanted to ask to make sure. 1 of my eggs looks like it has an internal pip but it's only day 16, WTH? Most of the air cells are EXTREMELY misshapen, they look like ink splats, literally, and 1 has what looks like an internal pip. I looked pics up online and from what I saw as far as images go it looks like 1 of my eggs has pipped internally. It has a sharp point at 1 point along the edge of the cell but the cells are so screwy I can't tell if it's just that the cell is shaped all weird or if it pipped internally or maybe the chick stuck a toe up into the cell, maybe? I have no clue so I figured I'd ask you guys.

Ha, thanks...lol

:thumbsup

I agree!

I thought I quoted gardener, but I don't see it.  Definitely only our thread.  A friendship thing. Kinda like SC was saying, but with more female softness....lol and fairness. I'd hate to see anyone left out that has been a regular on the thread. And I think all the regulars understand that we are not assuring SOP/show quality eggs/birds, that this is for fun and to add something different to our flocks, and are not going to try to pass off anything we have as something different. As for AI and such.... we're just taking a preliminary look at things. We can make any decisions/changes when we are ready. We just want a game plan in mind.

@SC in regards to spring... us up here don't see spring until after the calendar calls it....lol  I don't think there should be a timeline, just an agreement between shippers/recievers. Being in the cold state, there's a good chance my egg production won't even be good enough till April or so. I personally don't think I'd want to recieve earlier than March because of cold during shipment and wanting decent weather to move them to the coop. But, I think that can be figured out between shipper and reciever.

If WV keeps the list she can point the people with "wants" to the people with "donations" that match them and then once the two make plans she can cross it off the list. Or something better ........lol It's a work in progress....

I think that sounds good!

It's probably the messed up air cell, but could be internal pip... at day 16 though it sounds like the air cell is just funky...
I've had both those situations happen before... lost a Call baby cuz the weird air cell masked his internal pip... :/

can you get a pic? If you tap on the egg do you hear anything? It could be a sharp angle to a shipped air cell. Before the chicks internally pip, the air cell draws down and doubles in size from lockdown. HAs that happened yet?

Finally putting the incubator away and returning the "chick room" back into a "guest room." We're going to have a houseful for the Balloon Fiesta so I'd better start getting ready, although I hate cleaning and would rather surf the internet.

Promised DH all the chicken stuff would be out in my half of the coop by the time he gets back.
