She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I'm looking at it like paid advertising. If I successfully ship eggs, and they hatch, the recipients get nice chickens and I start my shipping career on a good note. I'm footing the shipping. Whoever gets eggs, they are totally free. If they hatch, spread the word

French Marans. He doesn't specify color
007 is a classy guy. You know he has to have an omelet from the darkest Marans eggs.

Look what I just found on my Facebook news-feed!:

Well aren't we fancy!

I must thank you guys for this thread. It has given me hope that I might be able to hatch my own eggs soonish. Between this thread and the "Great egg shipping experiment" I am starting to feel more comfortable ordering/incubating eggs!

Ask lots of questions and share with us all your variables and you will hatch eggs! Brinseas, Brinzeas, frankenbators, LGs, FI, barrels and other very creative incubators have been successful in this thread.

I found these for sale yesterday. What does everyone think? Are they better then the burrito method? Just as good? Not worth it? I will order some for the spring ship-a-thon if they are good....

Ruby, I think you have a "buying" addiction, more than a "hatching" addiction...

But yes you are right @scflock it is very hard work to keep up on here especially when you are all so active when I'm in bed!! Hundreds of posts to read and catch up on when I've been gone. I've been a busy old bee here over the pond right now. Getting things ready for the winter and the business is busy too right now so I can't look a gift horse in the mouth when it is. Still got some birds left to sell too, they are 12 weeks now and are sexed so was hoping things would pick up but I'm afraid not. I've not had the incubator on for 12 weeks OMG 12 weeks I'm not sure how I've managed it!! I've rehomed my 2 Roos so no fertile eggs right now. Getting just one new boy next spring for some colour variety.

I'm very honoured to have been the only

And some extra Sally Sunshine fun along the way. I will need some helpers for a few things, so message me if you want to help or if you have some cool Halloween ideas!

You and Cynthia are long time members with thousands of posts. This thread has a little different identity than the other threads you guys are usually on. We like you, and I can only speak for myself, but I am a little wary of you so I'm testing the waters a little more every day.

What is everyone considering spring? I have been saying spring, because in my mind the chicks that hatch in the winter are for sale in the spring. My plan this year is to start hatching in late December. My biggest sales were March through Easter, but it really doesn't matter to me if people want to start later. If I have eggs in the incubator, that just means that more are available

While my turks started laying in January 2 years ago, they didn't start until late March this year. And if I were to incubate in January, I'd have to brood indoors until March...so I prefer to hatch in March/April/May while those of you in the sunny south are on a different schedule altogether. Since my turkeys have a fixed market date, this year November 20, everything on my calendar is based around age at that date. I have a spreadsheet that does reverse date calculations to let me answer "what if" scenarios on getting to market.

So for me I have surplus eggs very early, before I start setting, and then after the market birds are hatched. These new incubators may cause me to have surplus eggs next year.
