Smart girl! The cynic in me wants to say: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
I'm trying not to think the same thing. Great idea Ravyn!

K, I'll make to do that. I would like to find some more so I could breed them but I've looked and can't find any.x2
When you go to get them, politely ask her where her stock came from... explain that you'd like to know so you can look for more and not get from same exact source since they have very little diversity of their genetics... her source will also verify if they're true as well...
Ummm... a bit, yeah... those 2 chicks are the only Araucana eggs to make it, have others but I split them to put under broody... will update on those when I can...
Thank you, I'm really excited, I can't wait to set them.

Too bad...be great if you had a reliable broody to hatch & nurture them naturally, since they're pretty rare; sure beats having to put complete trust in an incubator that could go belly up w/o notice (even a brand new one)No, all of mine are still only 2 and a half months old except for the Nankins and they aren't broody.
I'm thinking the exact same thing but I figure it's worth a shot. From what I hear they are reliably broody so I can always use them for brooding. And for eggs to eat.I'm trying not to think the same thing. Great idea Ravyn!
I'm picking them up Sunday so I'll probably let them sit over night and set them Monday morning.See how much you've learned with this batch. Now you can take all that experience and add to it with another set! When are you going to set them?
Shipped eggs are a double edge sword. I've learned my lesson that even when the sender say "I pack really well", ask them specifically how they pack. Good luck to your broody, though she probably doesn't need it!![]()
There's a different between saddles and clothes. I really needed to get a couple saddles myself. My big roo has damaged the feathers on my poor Austrolorp's back. I do have a couple chicken diapers, (I won in a caption contest here.) I tried them on Peep- my Special needs roo, when I didn't think he'd be able to go to the coop with the others. It was not good. He looked like like he was having a seizure. They did not help with his balance issues.I don't think that goes beyond red. I made saddles for my SILs girls and will do so for mine if necessary.its called protecting my investment.![]()

And the NNs probably do need something! Lol I dont actually knit, but I do sew, I'll have to think of something just for them!![]()
Um... I showed this to Hubby. First he said: You're in the wrong business. Then, after thinking about it a bit, he decided that if I advertised Rent-a-Chick, I might end up with the wrong kind of customer!
Congrats! So I just got an email from someone I've really been waiting and wanting to hear from aaaaaand.... next weekend I'm getting a dozen Icelandic eggs!!! I can't wait!!![]()
When I did a search on Icelandic Chicken I opened the link to the Mother Earth News' article & noticed a directory for chicks & eggs. Also noticed that a lot are sold out into 2016, but you might be able to make a deal with one of them for down the road if they have different lines.I just emailed her and asked where she got them from, I'll let y'all know what she says.
