She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

If they don't leave the nest before all the eggs hatch they will be a good at brooding the brood . instinct is dialed in . I've often wondered if a incubator hatched hen is affected by that when it comes to brooding . I have not had a good broody in years .the last one I had was one that hatched under a good broody . and she was a good broody. the hens I have now don't like it when I put eggs under them. when I do they change nest .
There's only three so.....

No clue, but everything was in Chinese for a while. Thread was down all night & being worked on
That's weird. There were two posts on the forum in chinese/Japanese...Asian of some sort, and I clicked on it and it asked if I wanted to translate and I hit yes. The post didn't translate but the rest of my page had Asian writing beside the English until I refreshed....lol

Okay... well that explains it!!! Chinese are taking over backyard chicken!!!!! Lol!!!

It's Ross!!! She did it!

So I have news....I am hatching some of TJ's Mille Fleur D'Uccles! Yay!!!!! So excited! And miracle of miracles my husband's not grumbling about the money spent. :)
Testing her bantam ameraucanas too! Eek! 21 days can't go fast enough.
Congrats!!

I had no intention of messing with my broody today, but when I went to check on them this morning, she was pacing the cage wanting out so I opened the door and she took off to stretch her legs. Two out of the three are pipped, one pip is pointy end pip with a tiny bit of blood on the membrane. My barred rock got in there and sat on them and I stayed out there until she came back and got her fill of food and water (apparently the food and water I put in the cage with her isn't good enough- even though it's the same thing.) Then I made the rock move and put the banty back on her eggs, she settled back down and I closed it back up. Just checked on her and she's sitting nicely. You can hear the babies cheeping under there. It's so sweet.

I've got some of the Mille Fleur's in the 'bator right now! I wish I could have gotten a hold of some porcelains too, they are so pretty. Let me know how the bantam ameraucaunas go, I have some LF in the brooder right now, love their puffy faces!

Here are the results from my week of weighing 4 eggs, just sitting on my kitchen counter, to test weight loss:

The larger eggs with good shell condition lost less than a tenth of a gram per day, just over half a gram in a week. The small egg had a really good shell, nice slick bloom on the egg, and barely lost any weight over a week. The more pourous small egg lost a total of 1 gram over the week.

I think I will try new eggs, and keep them in a dark, closet that is cooler than the kitchen, just for giggles. And mark air cells also.

Is it the Ruger Hawkeye? My husband had a Ruger 270 Hawkeye with a stainless barrel and a really nice high powered scope, that was his favorite gun, but he eventually sold it. Now he's kicking himself for it. He just bought a Remington model 770 270 last week and he doesn't like it anywhere near as much.

Mine is a traditional MK77 Mark II bolt action. If I can sight it, I can drop it. At least with the game in my area. :)

Hey!!!! I am not Chinese. I am korean.....big difference! Hahahahaha!!! :lau

How's the eggs? What day are we on?
Thank you! It was a lot of work keeping an eye on all of them and I had to help one out but I got 8 beautiful babies!
Really?! That's crazy!
I tossed 2 clears and 8 quitters. So I have 19 that are still going strong, nice veining and movement and the air cells look pretty good so far so :fl that they continue to grow nicely and that I'll actually have a good hatch. I'll never wash eggs again after this, lol. The 1's that are still good were the ones that weren't quite as dirty so I didn't have to scrub as hard. Some I just wiped down and dried real quick. There was 1 I was concerned about the last time I candled so I took a quick peek at that 1 a little bit ago and he's looking real nice too. That was 1 of the dirtier eggs so it'll be interesting to see if he makes it and how he turns out if he does.
