That's awesome! Good luck. I love Mille Fleur D'Uccles!! Can't wait to see pics!So I have news....I am hatching some of TJ's Mille Fleur D'Uccles! Yay!!!!! So excited! And miracle of miracles my husband's not grumbling about the money spent.Testing her bantam ameraucanas too! Eek! 21 days can't go fast enough.
Lucky dog! If I ever get more coops and runs....you know the drill.I'm soooooo jealous! I planned to get some of hers, but when I listed my turkey for sale, I got a reply from a lady with a small farm nearby me. She raises several SQ breeds. And guess what is on her list? SQ Mille Fleur D'Uccles!! So I'm getting some from her next spring. Please post pics when yours hatch!
Very interesting! So what %'s are those? Can you do me a favor, since I don't have eggs? Wrap one in bubble wrap and stick it in a shoe box and see what the numbers are. Please????Here are the results from my week of weighing 4 eggs, just sitting on my kitchen counter, to test weight loss: The larger eggs with good shell condition lost less than a tenth of a gram per day, just over half a gram in a week. The small egg had a really good shell, nice slick bloom on the egg, and barely lost any weight over a week. The more pourous small egg lost a total of 1 gram over the week. I think I will try new eggs, and keep them in a dark, closet that is cooler than the kitchen, just for giggles. And mark air cells also.

That will still be a lot of chicks!!!I tossed 2 clears and 8 quitters. So I have 19 that are still going strong, nice veining and movement and the air cells look pretty good so far sothat they continue to grow nicely and that I'll actually have a good hatch. I'll never wash eggs again after this, lol. The 1's that are still good were the ones that weren't quite as dirty so I didn't have to scrub as hard. Some I just wiped down and dried real quick. There was 1 I was concerned about the last time I candled so I took a quick peek at that 1 a little bit ago and he's looking real nice too. That was 1 of the dirtier eggs so it'll be interesting to see if he makes it and how he turns out if he does.

I read that some people that wash them, dip them in olive oil before incubating!Ya know, this makes me wonder if there is some kind of way to "replace" the bloom, if we do wash eggs. Ruby mentioned on that FB thread they used Listerine. Seems like there would be something we could dip the eggs in, to preserve them. I'm going to have to do some research on this. My chicken eggs are usually fairly clean, but my duck must like to roll hers all around. If I don't get it early, she gets it filthy. Its just dirt, not poo, so I just wipe it off. I'd still incubate without washing the dirt, but poo is a different subject.
I'm not letting this go to my head that much!!Ruby - there's your new title to request. Queen of Shipped Eggs!![]()

3 boys here, 10 and under...oh how I know!!Yes. It's to do with the woman's (mother's ) age and the month of conception.... something along those lines. I didn't seek the info before pregnancy, but looked into the gender thing after I got pregnant. If I had used that to plan, I'm not sure that I'd have the household hormonal imbalance that I do. Boys are gross, love them, but boy howdy.
That is so funny!! Can't wait to see pics!!My broody has a hatcher under her. We went to check on the coop and there's a hatched egg pushed out from under her and a peeper peeping away. Every few minutes you see movement up by her breast and she sticks her beak down there and pushes her back....lol I want to see her sooo bad. There's 2 more eggs under there so we are still waiting. My son says, "You would think her sitting on it like that would squish it's guts out and kill it." LOL Yup, it's proving to be an educational experience for sure!
