She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I was trying to think of how to word this and just couldn't do it! Lol!! You said it perfectly!!
You can take a toothpick and cut it to be the length of the toe and then attached it with a thin-cut piece of tape. I will try to find a pic.
That's great!!

They will be ok!! Remember, I had the heater go out in my incubator and it was blowing cold air on internal and external pips! I was so worried but the all hatched except one. So

That's me!

I'll be in and out of here all day so if anyone says anything and I don't answer for a few hours y'all know why (in other words, I'll have my nose crushed up against the bator window) ;)

On a strange note, all 3 pips so far have been from the really nasty eggs, the 1's that I lost the most of, they were also the last 3 left of those. The others started to develope later and the last time I candled they were a little behind the others in development, but I'm hoping they'll pip sometime today :fl

For inquiring minds... 1 IS OUT!!! And a 2nd is on its way and there's also a third pip!!

YEAH!! Geez, has this been the longest incubation in history or what?

Every day the other hens move her off the nest so they can lay there. Obstinate things. Apparently my nest boxes were never good enough, because once the first one decided to use that spot the others followed suite. Every day I move her and remove the extra eggs and let her stay there. BUT my concern has been once they start pipping if the others move her to lay they will hurt the pippers/hatchers, so like Chibi, I wanted her in a safe enclosed place for the actual hatch so she wouldn't be moved off by the others. Late last night when she was in zombie mode I moved her to the large kennel I have in there. Got the eggs back under her and she zonked right back out. Yes, she was shut in there. I was hoping since the eggs were this close, natural instinct would keep her on the nest. This morning when I went to open the coops and check she was off the nest and the eggs were cold. As soon as I opened the kennel she went running to the nesting area and resettled there. After I candled and found no movement I put them back under her. I'll just have to keep a close eye on the others through out the day to make sure they aren't moving her and messing with the eggs. It's the only alternative I have at this point, that I can think of anyway.

That's cute. :-)

Ok, gotcha. Sorry for my density.

What about locking them out of the coop for the day. Perhaps you could give them a hay lined box in the run. Might be worth giving up a day's worth of eggs to save the chicklets.

I'm telling you, every egg I've hatched so far has just taken it's sweet time coming out! I think the Welsummers had these guys beat though. Actually no, they hatched on day 23 also :/ :fl for more pips over the course of the day :)

Potty breaks :gig I came back cause my neck and back was starting to hurt from being being bent over the bator. And there was a lull in action, lol

Close up the coop for the day... put a carrier or tub in front of the door so hopefully the others will use it, or just deal with eggs being laid willy nilly everywhere, but close it up so they don't bother her and open it back up when it's bedtime for the others...
