She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Ok, #2 is out but I don't think he's going to make it, his belly button looks pretty bad. It looks like there's fluid building up around it and it looks like it's open. Is there anything I can do for him? I read something about iodine online but if there's fluid building up can I still do that? I'll post pics when he dries off and I can reach in to roll him over.

Definitely take a pic. Does it look like the yolk is not absorbed all the way?

OOO nooo, congrats on the hatches,

for the remaining and prayers for #2

Can I reach in the bator while he's still wet? I don't want to stress him any. The yolk is absorbed all the way but his belly button is swollen and there's fluid building up around it. And the other chick keeps pecking at it.

I cut a tongue depressor and tried to tape it on. No luck, I finally got some tape on the toe. I'm afraid I might have done more damage then good. The toe started turning upward when I was taping it

You can take a toothpick and cut it to be the length of the toe and then attached it with a thin-cut piece of tape. I will try to find a pic.

I have a chicken that had a crooked toe at hatch. She's fine and it doesn't bother her. Their toes are so tiny! Maybe just do the boot again then and try to get the toe really flat & straight between the tape.

Amy, any update on the two eggs??

I meant to quote you too. I had one at hatch that had a huge mess of a navel too. I just put bacitracin on it for a few days after hatch and it took about a week to heal. The others picked at it occasionally too. Hopefully it will look better when the chick dries out in a few hours. But post a pic if you can.
