more to come, hopefully with growth measurments as well. And then yes sale price... Im very curious what the turn around is going to look like... I want to accept this as my leg up into cattle. Plan is, if i can lease a pasture, i can raise 8 calves on 5 nanny goats' milk. They would be very cost effective and make an excellent turn around. Now, to get everyone on board, and move forward!

Shhhhh! But i can raise an Unlimited number of chicks if i can lease a pasture! ShhhhhhhHHH!!!

I don't know the laws in LA but be sure to check out an Ag exemption if you don't already have one

saves us a ton on taxes.

@gachooks missed you. Fix that dang computer! :hugs

Well, I just found my first egg from Katherine!! All the chicks were out free ranging in the yard, me and hubby relaxing and watching (crown and diet coke in hand!) and I see Armand try to mount Katherine. Well she wasn't having it! Later in that same spot, I see him pick up something, then drop it. I grab it and its an itty bitty soft egg shell. I have no idea when she laid it, but it was still soft and pliable, so I'm guessing sometime today. They've been out, off and on, all day today. So we'll see tomorrow or probably the next day, but I got my first bantam egg! :weee

Do it!! Lol!! I'm am super happy for you! :hugs
:woot :highfive: Good to get just a bit caught up with you guys too! We have a forced air incubator(styro revamp) and an auto turner but no settings on that. I'll take your advice and put it to use. Thanks a bunch. :hugs I'm so excited! And knowledgeable of how insane I am. . . I didn't even make it 2 months. We have 55 chickens now! Good luck with your baby, @mixedUPturk and the castration. . . :sick
Good luck! Can you hand tilt for a couple days? Give them at least 48 hours without any movement. If you can gently hand tilt them 5 X day till day 7 or 8. Then put the turner on. Honestly, if your air cells are intact, then you should have a great hatch! :fl

OMG speaking of top animals that kill... the Assasin bug was in the top 12 article I just read. The bug itself isn't the killer but it can cause/carry Chagas. Someone just mentioned this bug the other day.
That was me. Never heard of Chagas...what it is?

Yes, im weaning him for sale
smile.png
i keep telling myself if hes sweet and managable, then Maybe he wont be eaten... Fat chance, i understand that, therefore he is on a pretty high feed intake. 4 bottles a day, and still hungry enuff to start calf grain
smile.png
i totally believe that theyd make the top 12, my research told me i have to really look out for aggresive behaviors because he will be a one ton dangerous animal.

Drinking about a gallon, maybe a lil less each day, and he ate half that grain while i was out there coaxin him into it, at 3 wks old i dont think hes doin too shabby
smile.png

I know that u can totally imagin, im terrified of that beast getting enourmous and squashin me like a bug! Thats why i have outlet plans early on

he Cant be my pet, even if i Did name him

"Mr. Bullwinkle"

He sure is pretty. I really like his face markings. I love the name! I named ours Jr. Jr. got in trouble with the girls (he wouldn't stay home, jumped fences, we leased him to a friend who had 24 open cows and when he got through there he jumped fences and crossed a major FM road to get to some more girls. The Sheriff caught him and penned him up. My friend told him she didn't know whose bull it was, lol. My DH picked him up and took him straight to the sale barn

. Black Angus so I'm sure he got eaten

A danged Angus will jump anything he can see over. If he can't see over it, but wants to be on the other side of it, he'll go thru it!

and the advice!

Was that garden compliment in reference to the pic I posted of the 2 BSL? If so... that pic was posted by Mlowen, and that is her beautiful garden. I sold her the black pullets this summer.
Yep, that's the one. I assumed it was yours b/c the chickens were doing all the work.

Nice birds, too.
