Hi everyone

Work has been so crazy and I've had almost no time for BYC lately, which stinks. There's a person in the class I'm training who should just be kicked out but the supervisor won't do it so my hands are tied. That's been a pain in the butt this week.

Snap's eggs all died during all her nest switching Luckily for her I have eggs hatching in the 'bator but it's still too bad she lost them all. She'll get some incubator chicks to raise though so she'll be happy.

On the ayam cemani front, all of the last four eggs I put in the incubator are fertile and developing. At least one hen is laying but she's laying on the ground so with all this rain I'm getting really muddy eggs Ah well, it won't keep them from hatching.

for the 4 eggs in the bator!! I was reading reviews on some group on FB about good/bad egg sellers and there was a whole post about someone on eBay being a scammer with AC eggs and I thought about you just warning us about the same thing! Can't wait to see chick pics!

Can chickens eat beef? I have some organic 100% beef hotdogs in the fridge I was going to toss. It says no nitrates, no gluten, no antibiotics. Can I cook them and give them to the chickens?

Chickens are omnivores so they eat all things meat.

Generally with some exceptions they eat what we eat. Even the foods that they cannot eat are actually bad for us too, they are just smaller so the effect is worse, like green potato skins. We are not supposed to eat them either.

so yes, they can eat beef but chickens should get most of their nutrition from chicken feed. They can live on other stuff but it is not best for them. You can tell because too many treats will make them lay less eggs and start looking ratty.

In moderation. I save all meat scraps and toss them to the chickens, or mix in the next day's FF ration. They even get chicken bones.

I toss stripped deer carcasses to my chickens every November and you'd think they were piranha, not chickens. They pick the bones clean of every scrap of meat. Lots of protein, raw and unprocessed. Wild birds scavenge too, and the fat and protein is good for them as a portion of their diet.
