I would make sure to open it in front of them so they can get a good look at what happened. This is not just a package, they are live, feeling critters that suffered because of their ineptitude.

I'd be ready to take someone's head off if it were me. You are being very patient about this whole mess.

I can't. They are all closed today for the holiday, as is the customer service phone number, the phone number for the sort facility they are stuck at, and any other possible way of contacting them short of me driving 3 hours to the closest sort facility, going in there, and trying to get help, which I can't do because I have to work. This whole thing has been a total nightmare. Out of desperation I have now sent them an email - I just picked random options. According to their website though it can take three days for them to fix the issue when you email them, so I'm not hopeful that the email will help, and they won't even begin to address it until tomorrow at the earliest. I did try calling the facility they are stuck at.

File a grievance, put in an insurance claim, hire a hungry young lawyer, contact the newspaper; do whatever you can to make life miserable for the postal system. Of course, for any of that to be effective, you first need to find someone who gives a crap, which brings us right back to the beginning.

i was a lil scared that they wouldnt be accepted, alot of people (including my own father) are scared if the breed, but i too believe they are the most loving and loyal creature to walk the earth. Weve had those girls about (Coco) 1 1/2 years and (Fawn) 1 yr. Coco has always been shy and skittish but never snappy, Fawn is hyper. Not like "Oh lookit the lil girl run!" Its like, "did your dog just jump 6 ft n the air?"

i am really not crazy about pedigreed dogs, but i support real breeders where i can. I have seen many many Stupid and sickly pedigree dogs, and there are too many poor critters that truley Need homes... Like AmyL and (Liz)Ross the choice is made easy, rescue mutts for life

Nope, I'm the baby of the family and since my sibs are 10, 14,16 years older than I, most of my life I was basically an only child...lol But my sibs kids are closer to my age, a few of them anyway and I did dress one of my nephews in a little blue dress and took pics when he was little....lol

Not scared of the breed. Animals are what you make them. I don't personally see me having a pit, and after seeing the one pit at the shelter (out of something like 6 pitts there) I don't think I'd adopt a Pitt that I did not know the origins. The thing is that Pitts don't neccessarily attack more. They are just more dangerous when they do because once they are set off they go for kill and those jaws are strong. I read an intersting article a while ago and they had some very good points and views. I think its just awful what we have done to a breed that was at one time known as so gently that they were considered a nanny breed. The silver/blue color is really pretty, I also love the brindles. Saw brindle full blood dane pups a couple years ago (didn't even know that they had brindles) and OMG fell in love.

  I gently broached the subject of making a brooding area in my woodshop last night....   I'm thinking I might just get to set some eggs in a few weeks! 

An update: chicks still not here. Haven't been able to contact USPS in any fashion. According to the tracking, they are still sitting in the origin facility in CA. I have written a blog post about the whole thing, not going to put it here because it's very long, but this has been the worst customer service experience of my life. Since the chicks haven't even left the origin facility, if they left today, they could reach me by the time they are three days old and there might a be chance for them. However the PO has closed every single way to possibly get in touch with them today, so I can't tell anyone to find them until tomorrow. At that point, it's probably too late.

This is not right! So they were shipped express and then the tracking shows the never left CA? I had an issue with eggs being shipped from Jacksonville to NY. The person in Jacksonville accidentally scanned the box as "received" instead of "ship out" or something to that nature. So tracking showed that the packaged had already arrived before it ever left. No one knew where it was and there was no way to track it further because according to tracking it arrived at its destination, even though it hadn't. It did showed up a few days later. But I know how upset I was and they were eggs, not even live chicks. It's so frustrating when this stuff happens. Please keep updating us.

It's terrible what people have done to the breed. I know there's a website to try and educate people called "hate the deed not the breed" or something like that. I would also only buy a pit from a reputable breeder, now that I have kids. Once the kids are grown I would love to rescue a few that have been abused and work with them and give them a safe, loving home. Some people try to breed them to look and act aggressive. It's just sad. I know first hand that the one I had, would not have hurt a hair on my head. He was the sweetest boy ever and he was very protective, which was good because I was living in the city. I felt safe walking the streets at night with him on a leash.

awww. So cute. How long ago did he hatch? The first several hours they really don't need anything but warmth and rest. Then once they get On their feet good and start exploring, make sure you show them the water. I put marbles in the water and keep tapping the marbles with my finger nail until they try it and I see them tilt their head back and swallow.
