Now that we are getting some daylight hours back my layers are picking up and I collected 15 eggs yesterday. That is the most I've collected in one day and that is out of one coop (minus one egg). It's including the banty's though.

Same here. My young ones are getting in gear. I picked up 22 eggs yesterday. It's a nice change. Now I have to hold off on setting any until my shipped eggs get here.

Wow! That's a lot! Do you sell them as hatching eggs too? My girls are doing the exact opposite! They've been laying good all winter and now that I want to collect eggs for the Easter Hal, they are going on strike!

I haven't yet, but I did put the offer out there today when I posted on FB that I have eggs to sell if anyone knows anyone that doesn't mind mixes. I won't charge any more for them that I do the rest, but I would store them differently.

I don't plan hatching any until after or during my silkie eggs and then just my greens and a couple of the bantys.

You mean they haven't started yet? Shoot, I got 2 of those with chicks already, my Mama Hen Am injured her toe so she decided it's a good broody time, and half my Silkies are trying to hatch their feet too...

Now it's going through my Ohiki... half of them are sitting...

Holy Crow I hate broodies....so annoying. This year I am kicking them out of the big coop and going to free range them in the gardens all day and sleep in the tiny coop. They can stuff themselves in there. Wont be broody down there this year!

I have some pet quality silkies that just live to hatch chicks. I let them do their thing, and sell those chicks cheap.
I also have two cuckoo Marans that will brood a couple clutches a year, and I let them. The rest I break

I enjoy watching the silkies with their babies, but it just sacrifices production in the other pens
