Are you familiar with the FAMACHA chart?

I was lucky enough to find a free microscope on Craigslist about 3 years ago but I never knew how to use it. They showed me how to use my microscope, so now I can do fecal testing for worms.

Familiar, no. But I know about it, the basic idea. I came across the chart on the internet while waiting for some advice about de-worming and that's how I knew to get them tested. My wether came up to me later that day and I just pulled his lower lid down real quick. It looked pretty pale to my untrained eyes so I was back on the computer searching frantically for a large animal vet. They're hard to find! But they called me the next day with the results. It would be nice to get a hold of a cheap but decent microscope (my kids' is a piece of junk).

Try advertising on craigslist for a microscope. That's what I did and I was lucky enough to find one for FREE.

Had our first pure Icelandic lamb born today! Single ram, I think he's a black spot, but I'll have to investigate if he's black/moorit more tomorrow. Looks black black though!







He was very slow to nurse, but he's pooping normally, so I guess I'll just let him be. He totally is not receptive to ANY kind of help. I pick him up, he goes limp and if I set him down, he just lies there. Very strange, I figure it's a survival instinct thing- once he thinks I'm gone, he pops back up and goes to his mom.

Thanks His mom has GREAT milk supply coming in, so I may let him stay a ram... we'll see
