Congrats on the twins.

Such cute lambs!
Too bad about the mom who rejected her little guy.
I have one mom with twins who rejected the girl and dotes on the boy.
I'm bottle feeding the girl along with a couple others. They're on the bucket.

A few of my moms are having difficulty keeping up with their triplets (not producing a lot of milk), so I'm supplementing them also.
I just walk thru the barn with bottles in my hand; whoever comes up for a drink gets some.

He is just as sweet as can be. And she doesn't even mind me coming in and bottle feeding. In fact, she will walk and stand near me and smell the bottle and just stand there until the baby is done sucking. Then they walk away and go play.

I have 3 more mamas to give birth and I am so praying that they won't reject their babies. I won't be able handle any more work on the farm. :/

Supplement the moms with some alfalfa. It is good for bringing the milk in.

Alfalfa hay, pellets, cubes?

If you can buy local grown that is the best. The hay, cubes and pellets have some additional processing that I like to avoid if possible. If you have a good nose and compare the two you will notice your local grown has sweeter/fresher smell. Your processed alfalfa (even the compressd bales at TSC) have a harsher scent to them. I am not implying that this is harmful but my instincts tell me that it is not as nutritionally rich as local grown alfalfa (that hasn't been sprayed with chemicals). Stanlee company who sells these says they don't use nasty stuff in the process. They do use a kiln drying system and that may be what is the difference. I have fed both (the Stanlee products and local alphalfa) to no seeming ill effect. To claim any thing more than that I would have to set up scientific testing. If you get cubes they now come in a mini cube size good for mini horses, goats and sheep. If you have ewes that wolf the food down like it is going to run away this is better than pellets because it will slow them down. Be sure they have salt out because (especially with pellets) it is possible for them to eat enough to fast and get some bloat going. EVERYTIME I have had problem with bloat I find that my salt bin is empty.

It's really, really hard to find people who sell straight alfalfa.
My hay guy who also sells straight alfalfa lost his crop last year, so I wasn't able to get any alfalfa (and I won't buy the store-stuff).
Anyhow, I found a few farmers here who sell mixed hay -some is 45% alfalfa and the most recent hay I bought was 60% alfalfa.
The little lambies love it!

Dottie, the one with the ugly mole ... er ... 'beauty mark' always comes running up to me for some milk. She's so funny.
Her mom only has one teat working, and she is a triplet, so Dottie loves it when she sees me with the bottle.
I only left two with the mom and I found a surrogate mom to raise the other.
