I've only done chickens not any of my water fowl, casportpony taught me to use the syringe to give wormer It's a breeze now with my dh holding while I give. I would def try to get help but even wrapping in a towel helps hold them I have had to do that when I didn't have help available.

I can't remember what all pills the ducks are being given, and this may not be an good option, but could the pills be broken/crushed/etc? Then sprinkled on some feed or treats?

I haven't had to give a bird a pill yet. I was scared to death to tube feed or give meds by syringe, but once I learned how (thanks to casportpony and Ravyn), it's so much easier than it seems. Kinda like that first push on a bicycle after training wheel removal.

I thought about doing this Wednesday and called the vet to see if this would work and they said that the pill, once it loses its coating becomes very bitter. So that kinda sucks!! Lol

Yes @casportpony , @Ravynscroft , @Miss Lydia have been very helpful to me during this process. I'd have my DH help me but they seem more freaked out when he tries to help....

Try wrapping a towel around them I find that helps.

I understand that, mine freak out more when my other half tries to help too... try the towel like Miss Lydia mentioned, wrap them snug with their wings folded up... have everything set up ahead of time on a table and sit in a chair or stool, tuck them under your arm, legs on one of your legs and head sticking out over your lap... that helps to use your elbow to restrain them with and partially frees up that hand to hold their bill open...

Tonight was another fail! I should have listened to @Ravynscroft about not giving the meds with food. Miss Bill threw it all up again! She didn't do this in the morning when I gave just one pills with the apple, but tonight with a very small amount of peas....shortly after it all came up! She gets really sleepy like and has a dazed and confused look on her face. I'll be calling the in the morning!!!!

Ask them to give you liquid meds then try the smashed peas with meds mixed in Amiga does this with hers when she is giving Liquid calcium. Or the method caspotpony showed

Vet said to only give one pill in the am and one in the pm. I will skip this morning dose since I just heard back from the vet. Tonight I will give the pill with no food and see what happens!
