Shelless egg

Pics
Yup, 3/5. I was just searching the forums for that. I do not do Facebook. I checked Craigslist last night in farm and garden, thats where I found ostara. I don't know how I feel about letting some males go to new homes. It wouldnt be a horrible idea. Im not sure my next move.

Well, i put lucky and ostara together all day and they scared the eggs out of each other i had two shelless eggs with cord attached to one. They were broke open. I cleaned them up so it doesn't attract predators since pluckys by himself in the pen. Oh boy...

Nope, I think it just happened bc they were alone together all day and were stressed out. Their eggs are usually strong and solid. It was really hard to catch ostara today. She is getting tired of being stuck home but I think it's too soon to let her out.

Was just told the neighbors dog was here. So that would make more sense. I didn't seem right that they didn't get along they keep a good distance from each other when I see them. Glad I had lucky locked up. I knew something scared them. Oh well I'll only get one egg tomorrow..

Neighbors dog? gosh that doesn't sound good. Dogs to me are #1 enemy of poultry besides the wild preds.

Hope everyone is safe.

I know it's hard to keep Ostara locked up but just remember your wanting to make sure she know where home is. Where food is and where safety is.
Hope her and the girls start bonding.

My Muscovy girls have gone crazy. lol chasing each other around running up to their drake bragging about it then chasing each other again. All the other birds just stand and watch the 3 ring circus. Crazy time of year. lol

Yeah his dog swings by sometimes and chases them. She is starting to realize I'm the food bringer. She looks up when I whistle my treat whistle. That's a good thing. The other guys are still chasing her off. They are fighting with each other. I opened the pen for Daffy bc plucky wouldn't leave him alone and howard wanted to be with lucky. I stood there and watched for a bit. But then I had to kick howard and daffy out bc they werent being nice to ostara. My kid got sick last night no one got any sleep. I cant spend too much time outside today. How do I know when its right to let her out? I got her sunday...

Haha that sounds very entertaining. Thank you for sharing.

Everyone is safe. They are hanging out around the coop right now. Just brought firewood in and they were all nosy. Searching for bugs in the wood begging for more treats. They already got wheat and mealworms and fish food and corn. Maybe ill make them some broccoli. Ostara did eat some crumble last night and I gave her sunflower seeds she liked those! :drool

Sorry your lil one is sick, not getting sleep is the pits maybe some rest today.

I'd say play it by ear on when to let her out. There is going to be a pecking order established no matter how long you keep her up. Main thing is you want everyone to have a chance at getting use to each other and that she knows where food and home is.

So maybe try on Sunday that is just 2 days away hopefully she'll stick around even if on the outskirts till they all accept her. Only thing I am concerned about is her flying off. I'd hate for you to lose her when you just found her.
Muscovy's are the worst for flying away from home that is why there are so many feral now.

Thank you:hugs
Yeah that pesky pecking order...
I worry about the too. All the work ive done to bring her here and build her coop and the time ive spent... It would suck if she didn't wanna be apart of my flock. I know the river ducks sleep in the water it's safer for them i believe. Well, we will see how it goes i will keep you guys posted for sure!

Maybe at least if she doesn't want to go back to her coop[hoping she will] she'll roost in a tree close by they are tree dwellers, she wouldn't be as safe with flying night preds but she'd hopefully stick around.
