"Something... he he... something's going on... he he ha." he giggled, and began to cough little lizard coughs. Black ooze shot from his mouth, and instantly began to turn gray, crawling towards Jaydn. < Scree! > yelled Shamal, now in complete control. <Don't let it touch you, its that fungus! >
Before it was able to reach Jadyn, Mac had grabbed a small quick-seal see-through container and dove clear over the Operating table. As he landed on the ground, he slammed the open plastic box on the floor sideways with the opening pointing right towards the advancing slime. The whole of the fungus crawled right inside without knowing anything and Mac slammed the lid shut. He jumped up and handed the box to one of the nurses and said, "Get this in the fridge quick! Don't put it in the freezer; if it gets too cold, it will die instead of going dormant, and we'll need it alive for now to find out if it has any weaknesses other than cold." The nurse nodded then dashed off towards the back areas of the Med Bay. Mac pulled himself back together and said, "you're not going to be allowed in here during the operation, standard procedures, but you guys can watch from the observation room right over there." Everyone except for Mac and the other Medics were politely ushered into the room--which had a large window that faced the Operating table, but had glass that was designed to only allow the viewers to see silhouettes. After the door between the two rooms was closed, the operation began.

Shamal had demorphed, still coughing. Deyona hovered near him, seeing if he was okay. "That... That was the Scree. They're the alien fungus that took over the Vorlochs, the Xennorg, and the Sharos. They die after a minute of being out of their host." He looked at Seth. "Your 'specimen' is dead. Cold only speeds up the proce-he-hess." he coughed out.

After about 30 minutes had gone by, Mac walked into the observation room; he shut the door and began to tell the others what had happened. "When we removed the bloody and matted feathers from the wound area, we really saw how bad that fox got him. To put it one way, it looked like a massacre scene from a 3-D horror movie." "3 'D's," Seth cut in, "Kind of reminds me of your last report card before you dropped out of school and joined the Resistance." Mac gave Seth a "Knock-it-off" look before continuing. "We did the best we could, but the flesh was torn away on half of his back almost down to the bones. Luckily, it was his back instead of his belly; if he had been laying on his back when the fox got to him, he would be running around in that big coop in the sky. But..."
Mac was cut-off by the flinging-open of the door and the running-in of a small-ish dark red blur. It ran across the room and slammed into Rocky hard enough to knock him over. Rocky jumped up and, realizing who it was, hugged George hard. "He's gonna be fine; but it'll take a while for the wounds around the transplanted flesh to heal, and then a while longer for the feathers to grow back. Something weird happened in the middle of the operation, though. We lost his vitals and he was technically dead for a full minute. Then, as quickly as it came, it stopped and his vitals returned to normal." Seth turned to hear the cocky RIR cock say "I saw some freaky stuff when that happened. I saw the devil, in fact, and you know what I did? I stared him down and spat in his eye." Seth chuckled and said, "That's the George I know and love."
