"Sure." Jadyn walked into the tent calmly.

Dirk came back into the tent behind her, closing the flap as he entered. Seth was sitting on a small chair in the tent, looking slightly depressed. Dirk pulled up a chair for Jadyn before sitting down himself. "So," he began, "whlie we were in the Med-Room and we were working on Seth, we noticed that the EMP shorted-out some of the circuts in his shifting tech. While it didn't really do any lasting damage, there's a glitch in the system that is beyond our power to fix, and it reset the form that it changes him back to when he de-morphs. Normaly this wouldn't be a huge problem, but his wounds were severe enough that... well... maybe you should just see." That said, Seth reached over to his left shoulder and it looked like he was peeling the skin off his arm; only, it wasn't skin. It was a protective sleeve that was covering the outside of his arm, but underneath that cover was no flesh or anything. There was only a huge mess of wires, servos, and electronics. Dirk continued, "the injuries were so severe that we had to amputate his left arm at the shoulder and his right leg below the knee. We also needed to do some spinal reconstruction and strengthening. The main problem is that shifting to an animal then back won't fix the problem. It won't reset the DNA all the way, like it should, so he's still going to have an artificial arm and leg for the rest of his life." Seth tried to lighten the mood a bit by saying, "on the plus side, now I can lift like 15 tons more than anyone else; that may come in handy when we need like a forklift or something when we don't have one."  The two boys chuckled a little, it was the first time any of them had laughed since the crash.

Jadyn looked at Seth. "Well, you're my personal Hercules." She hugged him.

Shamal growled, shuffling his wings. < Yes yes, that's allfine, but there's even worse news. If morphing to and from an animal doesn't heal him, it's completely possible it's interfering with his body's ability to heal. In other ords, he could die from a papercut. > Shamal let that sink in for a moment, then continued. < There's an 95% chance that that's what happened. Not very favourable. The only real way to fix it is to draw out the tech. > Shamal had started to pace by now. < Otherwise, he'd be crippled. Unable to do even simple tasks that he may get hurt in. We may be able to... lessen the effects, but that will only slow down his blood, which would keep him safe longer, but eventually he would bleed to death. > He looked at all of them, and privatly said to Jaydn, < I'm sorry. >

Shamal stood there in his pigeon morph. < There's another problem. Seth's morphs won't have those limbs. He's completely useless on the battlefeild without his morphs. And even worse, if he does morph, all those carefully placed parts will fall apart. The morphing tech gets rid of any forign material in his body, so we'll have to rebuild it over and over. It's just how it works, so that keeps you from getting lead poisoning from a bullet or something. > He shuffled his wings.
(Well that kind of just ruined this whole thing for me. Wait a second, how is Shamal there? They're like 300 miles away lost in the city and nobody even knows they've crashed or anything.)

(now it's ruined even more.

(IHe was a stowaway. f you don't like it, I'll change it. But you kinda said yourself that morphing is useless for him, so why not take it out?. Also, what did you expect? That his arm would regrow from nothingness? It would form around his metal hand/arm/leg?... Sorry, I'm feeling a little ragy right now.)

Fine by me, although I was probably the one who ruined it. But, I guess that makes sense. I'm still stowawayed. :p) Shamal flew over the crash site, watching the goings-ons.

Then from behind him, 4 strange aircraft came screaming past, very nearly knocking him out of the sky. The craft itself Seth was familiar with, and they had markings on them that he recognized. LAAT/i (Low Altitude Assult Transport/Infantry) gunships, with rebel insignias! Seth tried to signal them with a flare gun, but the smoke that still rose from the crippled Liberty's hull obscured the flare and the gunships never saw it or the survivors. All they saw was a wreak site from another ship; they didn't bother to check it out because they knew that snooping around ship wreaks could lead you into a trap and into the hands of the invaders. As they flew away, most likely returning to their base, the crew man who had just gotten the RADAR and sensors back online tracked them and started trying to figure out where their base was.
