Shipment of chicks ... problem!

So sorry. We lost 22 of 26 chicks a couple weeks ago. They were all piled up like you described. I saw some movement, so I had to sort through them with a glove and remove any with a chance. Even after dipping beaks and getting them warm, I still lost about one an hour until we were down to 5. The runt passed a couple days later.

It made me feel sick to have so many die. We ended up burying them under the crepe myrtles in the back yard. We're in the Sacramento area, though, so we don't have to worry about frozen ground.

Here's the pic of the chicks. I've been in the back bedroom with them, hoping someone will move. Signs of life. But there's nothing. They are so adorable!

Really hope Cackle sends a couple extra of each breed ... as warmers or in case something happens. Again.

Oh that has got to be heartbreaking. Sending a lot of

your way. I really have my

that the second delivery arrives with happy, healthy chicks. So sorry for your loss

So sorry for your loss. Like everyone else, I hope your second order arrives in good shape.
(And I don't think you're wrong to put them in the trash....maybe in a shoebox? I couldn't bury anything in my yard for another 8 weeks...so I would be using the landfill myself)
