Shipped CV quail on lockdown + pips!

The last 2 seemed very stuck. So 2 hatched on their own, 2 didn’t have the right pip or air cell and energy to make it out, one I helped out earlier and while his membrane was a bit bloody blood was not on him or attached to him he came out just fine, so 3 live chicks.

The last two have pipped 2 days ago and were still doing nothing and movement was very spotty I just knew if I didn’t do something they would die, and they might still die. They had the worst air cells.

So given they have had 2 days to absorb the yolk I went ahead and opened one and then the other. Both alive but very weak. Fully developed yolk is gone, normal chicks, but the membranes again are bloody. The blood doesn’t seem to be attached to THEM or their bodies they slipped right out fine, and even peeped.

I don’t know maybe their strange positions and bad air cells made for more blood than normal and made it so they were unable to finish the blood absorbing...?!

They are in the incubator just those two, I placed them back and put the temp up just a little bit and I’m leaving them alone to get their strength (I hope) before putting them with my little hopping frogs in the brooder. California quail can hop like nobody’s business they are like baby toads!!!

I’m hoping since the other I had to help pulled through though he’s still a bit weak that these two will pull through. They got some kick left in them and are breathing and sleeping. :(

Wow sounds like a nerve wracking couple days!

I think we are ok now! The two I just helped one is in the brooder he peeked up real quick and was calling to his friends, the other is a bit weaker he’s in the bator still getting his strength!

So it looks like all 5 are ok! I was able to save them I am happy :)
