~Shipped Egg Early Spring Hatch-a-Long~

400

I have 20 CreamLegbar eggs from two different sellers. In one set of 8, the air membrane looked good, not damage. The other set of 12 had some eggs with loose membranes about 2 or 3 of them were out of shape and loose. I put them in the incubator last night with the egg turner unplugged, hopefully the air bubbles set back in place. I will plug it back on Sunday so they start turning. Cross my fingers and hope that at least half of them hatch. Also put 3 EE eggs along for the ride.

Nice!!

Today is Day 6 and everything is going smoothly!
Out of 12 eggs, 5 eggs had floating air cells, but the other 7 eggs are developing! Hopefully these 7 eggs make it to lockdown.

Nice to see your progress! Out of 8 eggs I have only 3 developing PLUS another one of my silkies went broody! So now I NEED at least 2 successful eggs. Haha!

Il be setting 10 but the aircells are terrible. Ive never had luck with shipped eggs besides eggs that came from a hatchery.

Well, after candling the eggs on day 7 and waiting till day10 to see if anything changed, the results were no good. The 8 egg I got from NC looked infertil as nothing developed, There were no spider veins at all. From the dozen I got from OKlahoma 9 out of the 12 were duds, only 3 are developing. I figurerd that some would not developped due to the loos air sack. I am so disapponited that so many eggs did not developped. So only 3 cream legbar and 2EE eggs are left in the battor. Time to start the turkey eggs.

Sorry to hear that! D: Lots of shiped eggs don't make it. A few days ago 7 were developing and now I'm down to 5! I wonder why they are dying. There have been no temp spikes at all!

This was my first time with shiped eggs. Don't think I will get anymore. Just wanted some cream legbars. Had two young CCL roosters and lost them to predators.

Today I set 12 Blue Andalusians shipped from My Pet Chicken. I must say, those were the most securely shipped eggs I've seen, and I've seen many. The significance for me is that the first chicks I ever hatched were Blue Andalusians, and my best hen ever was Una, a Splash from that hatch. Hoping for a blue hen this time.
