Shipped Egg Question some one please see if you know the answer

Hi Shannon,
I did take another peek this morning, and a few of the eggs are cloudy. Cloudy isn't too good either. To me it means they were fertile, but they are not going to continue. I had this happen before. I don't think this is your fault I think something happened during shipping. I let the eggs settle 24 hours before I put them in the incubator. If this is the case that the eggs are not going to incubate properly, I would like more eggs. I would be open to emailing you the cost of shipping... BUT we can wait for the final result on Tuesday.


I just got this email today can someone help me tell her in a nice way that it is not my fault and she does not get more eggs. She has candle them again.

Edit to say Tuesday is 10 days

Can't help you there. I generally offer to ship more eggs for S&H if someone has poor growth regardless of fault (postal, incubator, etc).

They are sort of clear with little dark blobs in them. I just HATE eggs like this, because although I THINK they are gone maybe they aren't. It just isn't as clear as an egg that is just, well, clear.

If there is a dark blob .... it IS developing! Why do you think it should be tossed? I don't understand.<quote>



Ok, I know what I mean, but perhaps I am not explaining well. Toward the end of an incubation period, if the embryo dies, you can get an egg that candles pretty much light with some dark blobs floating around in it.

If I can find a photo of what I am talking about, that would be helpful I am sure.

I will see if I can find one. If I can I will post the link.

I do not mind shipping more egg if there is a poor hatch, But is not even 7 days end and she has Candle them twice how many time is she going to candle them before they hatch. She has Cracked eggs open that are only in the bator for 6 days. We all know that sometime shipped egg take a little longer to get started and some time take longer to hatch. Shipped egg are not the same as the ones we put in the bator out of the yard. I have asked her to wait until 10 days before candle them again. I ship her more egg and she does the same thing again. How is she going to make it though lockdown.

Hi! At Day 6, eggs should be obviously developing or not developing. That's a safe date for me to be certain --- a clear egg on Day 6 isn't going to suddenly start growing. If I wait much past Day 6 on shipped eggs, the egg yolk won't survive crack-out, so determining fertility is moot.

We all know that sometime shipped egg take a little longer to get started and some time take longer to hatch.

They don't here and shouldn't (unless it is incubator error).

I have order alot of shipped egg and most of the time my yard egg hatch before them. But maybe it just me. I know they are fertile that is not the problem. I have some egg in the bator right now that are about 13 day in and are do get Candle them tonight. These were put in right before I shipped hers so they are ok in my incubator. Anyway I got my answer you can see the bulls eye if you are Very Careful.

I don't know, Dipsy. Not everybody is that good at candling, not to say this person isn't, of course.

Here is a quote from someone else on the forum with a lot of experience.

<For a novice or beginner it's usually best to wait til day 10, you should really be able to see the embryo and veining. Clears will be apparent or should be. Day 5 or 7 if you know what your looking for. I don't throw anything away til day 14 if I have marked them with a question mark as a (hmm not sure egg) lol>

This is what I go by, and heck, I have candled a lot of eggs now, and I am often not sure what I am seeing at least not on day six.
