I got some eggs from ebay and she sent 17 of them when the sale was only for 6.That was cool none broke. When I opened the box all eggs were packed with the small end up. I unrapped them all and turned them big in up and there going to set for 24 hours? Will they be OK? Can I use them?

I don't know honestly. But candle them and see if you can see the air cell and if it is in the top. And if it is still intact, as in not moving around from one end to the other if you tip it over while candling. Maybe someone else will answer as to whether they are still good after being shipped upside down or not.

You can probably bet that the box was right side up during the whole trip. I wouldn't worry about it. Let them sit for 12 hours

I think even when the shippers put them in the correct way the box gets turned every which way before it gets to you and who knows how long they set that way without us knowing it. As long as the cells aren't floating around you are probably good. That's why we let them rest, I think. And even if they are floating (look like a level when you move it) some folks here have had them hatch healthy chicks. I haven't, but I still try them.

according to "Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens" If the eggs are stored more than 7 days they are to be stored big end Down.....So I think they will be ok.

I candled them before I put them under my hens. All the air cells were on the top but I didn't know what you were talking about when you said floating around. I moved them around a little and theair cells all moved. Then I candled one of my own eggs from one of my chickens and saw that if I tilt it over a little bit more then I did before the air cell stopped flowing the gravity of me turning the egg. What is it with different size air cells?
I have roosters that are young and one that is new. Any way I found my first fertile egg today.

Thank you every one for your help. I would be dum as a rock with out every one on here. Now I'm only dum as some one that has only had chickens one year.

Does the air bubble stay at the big end, or does it point to the ceiling no matter which way you turn the egg? If they don't stay at the big end, it's called a floating air cell.
