Shipped Eggs

Let them sit on the counter for 24 hours before you set them. Run a bead of superglue down the crack. Probably won't develop but worth a try.
In the future, have eggs shipped Monday or Tuesday so they don't get caught in transit over the weekend.

can I do this trick with the glue if I'm setting shipped eggs under a broody hen? one has a hairline crack in it. In the past a broody ate one of the eggs she was sitting on, probably because it was cracked, and I don't really want my hen to eat glue!

I wouldn't set a cracked egg, even if superglued, unless it's from a very expensive rare breed.

Thanks JanetMarie, I'll take your advice. I still have 11 others that all seem to be good. I candeled them but couldn't work out anything at all, except the one with the crack. I'll leave them all pointy end down now till tomorrow afternoon (24hours after I received them) then set them under my broody cochin.
