SHIPPED HATCHING EGGS.....what's your experience been?

I have had very little luck hatching shipped chicken eggs. My best hatches were both about 50%, and that was 2 hatches from 9 or 10 shipments. Most others were either no hatches or 1. I have had much better luck with shipped quail eggs, why this is I don't know, but shipped quail seem to do better for some reason.

I just hatched some Black Copper Marans eggs that I got from Bev Davis (was on the waiting list for 2 yrs!!!!) she sent me 15 eggs. I put them in my bater with some of my own eggs. When I candled them I culled 10 of hers right away. Most of them were clear. On march 14th, 3 of them hatched. the other 2 didn't make it.

So we have 3 chicks out of 15 eggs. My eggs were mailed, But we live in the same state, so they didn't go very far.

Breed - Welsummers
Shipped from? - Utah
Shipped to? - Ohio
How many eggs? - 14; removed 4 after candeling. 10 went into bator
How many hatched? - 8 hatched, 2 were fully developed but didn't hatch
Over all Experience? - 9
How Many Roos- 3
How many Pullets- 5

All chicks are two weeks old now and doing well. I was very happy considering the long journey the eggs made.

I have a total of 29 more eggs due to be delivered in a day or two. Hopefully this expirience is as successful as the first.

How many eggs - 18 all made it safely here
How many hatched - 11 has hatched
5 never developed
1 died half way through hatching
1 died right before it got all its down
Over all Experience - 9
How Many Roos- ??
How many Pullets- ??

Im happy with my hatch.. I expected way less to hatch out..

i just got 18 eggs from ontario and they wear shipped, its day 4 today and i saw nothing going on so stupid me cracked one open and it was growing . i felt sad but it was very cool i could see the heart beat and eveything , so i hope the hatch for you

Shipped in below freezing weather. We got 6" of snow the day they were in transit and the day they arrived.
The packaging was excellent! And I have cute chickies!
