Shipping and Receiving Pea eggs contest!

I shipped poultryfan73 13? eggs this morning packed the same way as Georgialees eggs,,he is getting 8 Midnight B/S,1 Blue Pied,and 4 Purples,shipping was FED-EX 2 day ground,,7.2 pounds,$15.21 shipping,,box 16x16x16 square,

Sorry for the delay! Here are pictures of the box. There were no broken eggs, but the air cells were detached slightly. I'm going to candle in the next day or two.

I just candled and all but 3 eggs are developing! I have them in a brinsea, so they're getting turned 2x per hour and I fill the water well when I notice it's dry - humidity stayss around 40% or so.

FrenchblackCopper, The person who is hatching the eggs for me said she got them and that they were in great shape! No broken air sacks all perfectly fine! I will be posting pictures of the shipping as well as the eggs in the incubator! I am so blessed to have a great poultry forum to go onto! God bless!

I SOOOOO wish I had my incubator! I would JUMP all over this! I let someone "borrow" my incubator a couple years ago and never got it back... maybe I can talk hubby into a new one ;o)

RuralMama,,don't wait too long,,Peafowl only lay eggs a few months a year.I think I have found a very good way to ship eggs now.I've shipped 5 families eggs with each one getting 15 eggs or more with noone receiving any broken eggs, and the most air sacks moving in any of these was 3.Eggs have went to Fla,Pa,Southern Ill,and far western Mo.I've found Fed-Ex to be more courteous when handling these boxes compared to the USPS as well.
I posted a comment a long time ago on another thread here about packing eggs with the air sacks up,,,in my way of thinking if the air sack is up while shipping there is a lot less chance of it breaking loose because their is no weight-downward pressure from the yolk-white pushing down on the air sack,,of course of the box isn't kept upright this extra packing effort would be useless.

I would be interested in buying India Blues, when your fertility goes up. We could see if distance has an effect on the aircells, damage from USPS, etc, etc. I'll put them in my new Roll-X. I've had great results all spring with chicks and ducklings.

Judyc,,,Lafayette Indiana is only about a 45 minute drive from here,,,be about as cheap to drive here and get the eggs and have a much higher hatch rate, yes? I have IB eggs in the bator now,,havn't candled them yet but in another week I should know if the boys are working in that pen,or just trying to see who's King of the pen.Your more than welcome to make the trip here,,cost is only 1 loaf of white bread,or two bags of microwavable popcorn,my peas are addicted to it,,jk!!
