To those who have recently (Aug 2020) received chicks shipped through the USPS, what has been your experience? On time, extra day in transit, dead chicks...? I am planning on raising a large batch of chicks but am suddenly fearful of the ability to receive them in a timely manner. The hatcheries keep sending me notifications of extra chicks specials and it's all I can do to not order.🐣🐣🐣

I had a large chick order that I paid express shipping for that took just over 3 days, though I am in Hawaii, so the extra day there, even with express. Others on the mainland are reporting 36-48 hours, so you should be fine! :)

That's good to hear! I have been worried, but trying to think happy thoughts!

Remember when I downsized my flock a little over a month ago.....yeah I went to low. :hmm
Hubs had me order chicks through Feeders Supply. They hatched on a Wednesday and I had them on Friday.
I asked if they had a high loss this year or saw delays. They said no.

Mine are traveling from Ohio to Texas! How about yours?
I'm trying to wait another month so th e y aren't laying before March/ April. I'm not set on a hatchery but rather on breeds. Cackle has a near perfect selection of chicks on special right now but I'll be strong. And I have to clean and organize the barn.

I picked up chicks last weekend from the feed store that I had ordered. They came for Privett in NM, hatched Wednesday & arrived at the PO Friday. They normally come in the morning & didn't get there until 3pm, but all & all not bad.
