Shipping Eggs Out Of The US

These may be "commercial" import. Perhaps you could find a German forum and check there. While the UK has a forum I can't get on because I have a "free" e-mail address and have to have license to have a TV, Radio and the internect/ computer. This according to my son-in law who is from the UK. I don't know about Germany.
Keep us posted as to what you find out. Certain countries you can not donate blood if you've been to them or lived there for any length of time.

That was very illegal. Don't be surprised if the US Department of Agriculture comes knocking on your door now since you have publically announced this.

There are very strict importation laws that must be followed and there are steep fines.

There is a thread on here that was recently posted that has all the requirements on it.

That was my first thought...big no-no!

If you really wanted to import eggs or chicks in the country, it would be best if you can find someone who is an international trader that deals with this kind of thing and knows how to do it legally.

It is not the only case I heard of but the Canadians and Mexicans have been doing it for years. It is a wonder that the Dept of Agriculture had spread themselves so thin trying to track down everyone and everything.

If it was me, I would go the legal route.

If he got thru customs without any problems, then it would be the customs fault for over looking the laws and regulations of importing stuff like that. Some countries are stricter than others. Liquor from certain countries or RX drugs can be taken away for any reason at all or pay the tarriff fees. I did read about the commercial imports and I do know you can import about anything in the US, directly or indirectly for their employers.

He did not say he smuggled them in. He brought them through customs who saw, and commented, on the eggs. Yes, there are import laws; apparently he followed them well enough that there was no issue with bringing them in. I know that eggs have been legally brought into the US from The Netherlands as well in recent years, and have hatched out fine.

I got one Welsummer guy who does this, importing from Holland to US, legally, of course!

My last trip back from Germany I was on the plane with a bunch of Americans who brought 12 bottles of wine a peice. They were allowed to keep all but two a piece (so 10 bottles a person)

Yes I just had them in a regular eggs carton put them in my carry on and brought them right along with me. No one said anything about them. The x-ray person actually called someone else over to look at it and they laughed about it together.

There are some big issues with this country if they come after me over 12 gifted eggs when there are people bringing in all kinds of wild illegal animals and other things that they can't stop.

Exactly, I did not try to hide them or smuggle them. If they would have told me you can't bring those with you, I would have handed them right over too them. My grandparents have also brought eggs with them in the other direction. They visited here some years back and they brought some americauna eggs with them to hatch. They also had no issues with this. Brought the eggs as carry-on went right through the x-ray and hatched out just fine. They still actually have offspring from those eggs on their farm.

The exporting countries don't care what you are bringing out of the country. The only reason I was asking is because of all these new policies the US airports have. You can't even bring a 20oz soda with you anymore. So I wasn't sure if they eggs would be too big for me to be allowed to bring them onboard.
