Shipping experiences this year? (2022)

Ordered the All Female City Town Special from Cackle back in December. Originally the ship date was set for mid-February, but I requested a date change to spring to give a small order a better chance to survive. Hatch date was changed to April 6th with no issues. Shipment arrived on time very early Friday morning the 8th. I picked it up at my distribution center at 7 o'clock AM, and I received 4 lovely, active chicks (the 3 breeds I wanted plus one extra Easter Egger). They'll be two weeks old on Wednesday and so far so good. The ordering and shipping process was nerve-wracking for this first time chicken-keeper, but I'm relieved that it all worked out for me.

What other breeds did you get? Pics please! ❤️

Here they are on day one, while they were settling and warming under the brooder lamp! We'll be switching to 100% brooder plate tomorrow. We have one australorp, one speckled sussex, and two easter eggers. That's pretty much exactly what I was hoping for (including an Easter Egger extra), and everyone looks different! I can't wait to see how the eggers will feather out.

So exciting! They are adorable! ❤️

Our first Metzer shipment failed horribly (Postal service sent them via the scenic route) but this one came in perfect time and they all look spunky! Our local post office is awesome and they were all so happy for us after the last batch. Most of them had never seen goslings so we let them say hi to the babies. Cuteness overload!

(This brooder is very temporary, we have a bigger one for them, they’re a bit cozy)

I like your water bowl for them! I've always done mine with the hole in the side...those top holes look more convenient.

Thanks we got tired of ducks and geese flooding the brooders! We get a pack of 3 of these semi-disposable containers for about $4 at Walmart. The bottoms of a couple of them have broken after heavy use and the kids leaving them outside in our plastic destroying weather, but the birds seem to love them and no more flooding!

So frustrating!

I once again went to the post office this morning to pick up my Purely Poultry order. This time they arrived on time so I was so excited. I open the cheeping box to discover it's once again full of feathered feet. This time the label says it's Old English chicks but every single chick has heavily feathered feet.

So first order was the correct birds but the post office screwed up. They wouldn't allow me to set my own delivery instructions and they ignored the shippers hold instructions and sent them out for delivery. Plus the chicks were on their fourth day. 100% died.

Second shipment was 100% wrong birds...all with feathered feet. Again the chicks were on their fourth day by arrival so 6 died.

Third shipment came on time...chicks are 3 days old, healthy and active, but once again the wrong breed.

I've never liked feathered feet. I have a wonderful neighbor I gifted the previous mistake D'uccles to...maybe she'll want these too.

Anyways, the supplier is Ideal Poultry by the way with Purely Poultry as a middle man.

Trying to decide if I really want to try a fourth time to get the birds I wanted.

I would just try to order through IDEAL then. They do send out substitutes, but maybe you could call and talk to someone and maybe they would help a bit
