Should be a blue Ameraucana but almost looks like a lavender...

Even very light blues can lack lacing. The feather shafts are the giveaway..blue for sure.

I don't have tons of experience but I'll weigh in... Anything I hatched that was down colored like yours was a cockerel and light blue with bleed through color. I am thinking, but just guessing, the yellow may be an indicator of gold bleed through? Does anyone know if this is for sure? Anyway, will be neat to see what it turns out to be!

well I defanitly think its a cockerel cause it just has that boy look to it and just acts like one. None of my birds have gold bleeding though but the brother to my blue hen did so it may very well be what is gonna happen to this one. I will keep notes on it and let you know.

It's a blue, lavender chicks are a real striking blue at hatching. There is no yellow down on them like blues and blacks when they hatch. See photo from ABC of blue chicks:

The creamy/yellow down is not a indicator of gold leakage.

did you see your black boy and how nice he looks? I just adore him, he is very friendly too and lets ne handle all the girls and pet him. Thanks so much!

I really prefer having people friendly roosters. No one stays here if they turn on me......

One roo (wheaten) I raised that I gave to a local man tried to protect the flock from a couple of marauding dogs. He lost his tail, but bloodied them up pretty bad.

Exception: I have a lavender roo from John's lines. Until I get a better one, he stays, but he is the meanest little sh?t I have ever encountered. The bantam lavenders were bred from D'Anvers, are they mean?
