Should I abandon incubation halfway through?

I had two smooth weeks of incubation with some lovely duck eggs, then two days ago my thermostat went haywire! It got cool early in the evening (around 95 F), then spiked (possibly as high as 104 F). I adjusted things as best I could, and planned to get a new thermostat as soon as I could the following morning. I wasn't able to get it as early as I'd hoped, but I was able to get the temp in my incubator to stabilize a bit again for most of the day. Due to totally unforseen circumstances, I spent all evening in the ER and couldn't replace the thermostat until this afternoon, after a second night of funky temps. Basically, it's been about 48 hours of some stability, and instability.

Here's my question for you good people: If you still had live embryos, would you continue the incubation and hope for the best? Or would you worry about a greater likelihood of malformations and prefer to chuck the eggs now than have to cull later?

I would keep going. Chances are the embryos are fine, as long as they survived the temp swings.

the egg temp doesnt swing as fast as air temp, a simple drawing i made

my first time was sad and they all hatched fine! Best of luck

I always think there could be certain circumstances with a mom laying on eggs. Are they always 100% same temp humidity? Probably not. So little hiccups on the way shouldn’t cause a disaster. Just a thought.

Just hatch them...If alive they should hatch. Watch the air cells..
