The lake is a local fishing place. It was called a dam when I was a kid. There are yearly fishing rodeos for families, and local firemen use it for actives. It is located in town & near houses & an elementary school. There are many ducks & geese that use this "lake". We have spotted one white Pekin duck. Should we attempt to rescue her?

Pekins are domestic not wild. You should contact the city first letting them know you wish to catch and give a home to the domestic duck.

are you sure its pekin and not just a white duck pekins arent good flyers so how'd it get there??

Most likely someone didn't want it anymore, I haven't been to city parks in years but can remember all the ducks that lived in those I have visited and hardly any were wild.

:( couldnt imagine ever putting mine in the wild with all the preditors. when we had to rehome ours due to change in circumstance i was even worried about giving them new owners just incase they wouldnt be kept as pets so gave them to a vegan run animal sanctuary more than content with them being there :) its been a couple of yrs now but i still call ask how they're getting on and have been up to see them and can still pick them out amongst the hundreds of other ducks :D

It is diffidently a Pekin. It stays in the water while the others fly up out to come to you looking to be fed. None of these ducks are " wild" so to speak. We believe it to be a girl. Probably dumped after the Easter holiday?:)

Making friends should be easy enough if you have treats. but then of course you have to deal with the other piggies[ducks] in trying to make friends with the Pekin. Hope you can take her home.
