Should I be concerned?!

Don't fret, all normal :D They will often pip (that small crack you're referring to), then just sit there, learning to use their lungs to breathe and absorbing their yolk for a good 24 hours or more before 'zipping' (working their way round the egg at the airsac end) and finally kicking out. This can also take anywhere between half and hour and many hours so try not to fret and try NOT to interfere as you will risk killing your eggs.

I wish you every luck. Now SIT ON YOUR HANDS ;) and try not to do this...:wee

Not interfering but got back ache as I've been say on a little plastic chair just watching for 2 hours... Need to get a life I have another egg in there too at the same age but nothing from that one at all is that normal (I'm starting to act like an interfering grandmother)

Definitely normal and keep waiting it's about 24 hours from external pip to zip with Chicks.
Wow!!! That's a long time! I just got my very first pip ever and I keep looking to see if any more pips and if my early bird is making progress. I so want to lift that lid and make sure it's OK. But I'm not touching it. Never knew this excitement, suspense of new chicks before. My very first hatch. So I'm following along to learn.

IKR!!!! They were due to hatch Sat night and since seeing that pip this day is longer than all the other days put together!!! But my children will be home from school soon and no one is touching that lid!!! Nor the egg... Good things take time... (But WHY this long? LOL!!!) We are excited for sure.
