#9 just arrived!!! Here she is!!

Proud Mama of an 8 month old son and 9 Little ducklings!!! Lol- I have A LOT of messy little ones- including a human! 😂
Wow! That must be a lot of work! Congrats on baby #9! My 7 ducks are already so much work I couldn’t imagine throwing a 8 month old baby into the mix! What a wonderful hatch rate!

Yes!!! I’ll have enough duckling and human poop for the next few years to last me a more than this lifetime!!! Thank you! I’m so very proud!! Luckily the 8 month old is Easy-Peasy! He’s like a 10 year old already- I spoil him so much that I guess he doesn’t have the need to cry- EVER. He only cries when he wakes up once in the middle of the night or after naps to let me know he’s awake and it’s a quick “wah-wah” and he knows I’m coming! He’s on a schedule that he knows and has been on since he was born, so Thank the Lord!

I got more sleep with the little human (Gunner) before, during and after labor than I got with the ducklings before, during and after internal pipping, external pipping an hatch!!! 😂
Oh yeah, a hatch will keep you up all night long, checking, worrying... hopefully you can get some sleep now! :hugs

Yes! I love them so much! I moved 3 to a temp brooder yesterday (I wanted them to still have a comfy towel in a small area) as they hatched from 12am-5:30am. I have 4 in the bator still.. I recandled the one who didn’t internally pip last night and this morning- I was tapping the egg this time and think I see movement- however this morning there was a semi- dark film spot shaped like a cloud on a 1/4 of the area in the air sac? But again I just tapped and I swear I see movement, so I’m still hopeful! As I’m writing you- #8 is beginning to zip and started the through and through hole and is about 1 1/2” zipped through already! #7 was on her feet the moment she popped out and she’s up with the others like she’s been out this entire time- aside from her needing to dry, you would have no idea she just hatched!
Your babies are just too adorable! I’ve been holding mine and playing with them- they come right to me when I put my hand in the brooder or bator! I’ve talked to them for WEEKS during candles, misting, adding water to bowl and just sitting at the bator during their incubation period. During all their hatches I was rooting them on, so they should definitely know my voice at minimum! Mine are #’s in order of the way they pipped, starting at “Safety Hole”, then 1-5, then 7-10 ( I accidentally skipped 6, but when I realized I decided not to change anything so there was no confusion). OMGosh, yours jump already too!!! Mine was only 9 hours old and she was already on top of this huge firm sponge that I have in a shallow bowl. It’s 4” high and she was on it and jumping across the bator like batman, landing to perfection and ping pong zooming (running) all over the bator! That’s when I decided the first three were just much stronger than the other 2 and the one that had just hatched at the time and I needed to get those first 3 out before someone got hurt! Are yours really active yet?? My first 3 are so loud banging in the temp brooder- you’d think I had month old puppies!! Lol!! And they’re peeps echo through the house and all the way upstairs! (This house is 4000 sf so that’s pretty far).

Thank you for keeping me updated!! I look forward to hearing more about your journey and seeing more cute fuzzy pictures!! Has anything changed since your last reply?? Feel free to update me as often as possible even if I don’t get a message, just keep sending if you’re excited to share your experience! I’m a happy listener, enjoying your story!!! I don’t mind coming back to many posts!!! In fact, it warms my heart to see everyone’s comments, updates, pictures and likes, loves & laughs!!

Your babies are so beautiful (and your son is gorgeous too). 🥰

My last three are all starting to unzip this morning. Slow and steady seems to be the Muscovy Motto. The Muscovies seem to be very quiet, even as little ones. They are so happy to see me when I peek in at them and they hold their heads out waggling them at me with their beaks open, and they wag their tails too. I love them so much! I made some of their food a little damp and that seems to have helped them eat it a little easier. The jumping makes me laugh every time - it's so adorably hilarious.

We have been kept awake by two little chicken chicks though. I have a lone chicken egg developing in the incubator, the only one to survive out of some shipped eggs that looked like they'd had a rough ride, despite getting to me overnight. So I had to find the poor little thing some friends, but I'm in the southern hemisphere and its autumn here, so luckily the lady that runs the Poultry Club up here had a sneaky bantam hen who'd made herself a nest and was sitting on some eggs. Two babies hatched out and we picked them up yesterday. They kept us up in the night, missing their mum. But they are very sweet and should settle in soon. :fl My lonely only egg is due in about a week but is a medium sized breed. These two little chicks are Old English Game bantams so they are very small. We have two Old English Game hens already which we love - they are spunky little chickens, so two more will be awesome.

Let us know if your last baby makes it. We're all rooting for her. :fl

And yes, it's great to have some support through this and a place to share all that cuteness. BYC is an awesome place!
