Should I be worried about my hatching eggs- 3 ducklings

Thank you so much!!! šŸ’œšŸ’™šŸ’š I can’t believe it’s already coming to an end! Waiting felt like forever and now it feels like it flew by! Lol! I’m still hoping on my #10 egg to internally pip and hatch- so I’m going to leave her and see what comes of it!
Congratulations on your great hatch! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your hold out! We got 8 live chicks from our 8 shipped eggs and we can't believe the hatch is over, but I won't miss the worrying and missed sleep. :)

I'm so happy for you and yes, glad for the community here, always so helpful and supportive.

Your babies are so beautiful (and your son is gorgeous too). 🄰

My last three are all starting to unzip this morning. Slow and steady seems to be the Muscovy Motto. The Muscovies seem to be very quiet, even as little ones. They are so happy to see me when I peek in at them and they hold their heads out waggling them at me with their beaks open, and they wag their tails too. I love them so much! I made some of their food a little damp and that seems to have helped them eat it a little easier. The jumping makes me laugh every time - it's so adorably hilarious.

We have been kept awake by two little chicken chicks though. I have a lone chicken egg developing in the incubator, the only one to survive out of some shipped eggs that looked like they'd had a rough ride, despite getting to me overnight. So I had to find the poor little thing some friends, but I'm in the southern hemisphere and its autumn here, so luckily the lady that runs the Poultry Club up here had a sneaky bantam hen who'd made herself a nest and was sitting on some eggs. Two babies hatched out and we picked them up yesterday. They kept us up in the night, missing their mum. But they are very sweet and should settle in soon. :fl My lonely only egg is due in about a week but is a medium sized breed. These two little chicks are Old English Game bantams so they are very small. We have two Old English Game hens already which we love - they are spunky little chickens, so two more will be awesome.

Let us know if your last baby makes it. We're all rooting for her. :fl

And yes, it's great to have some support through this and a place to share all that cuteness. BYC is an awesome place!

Thank you very much!!!

Aww!!! Hah- quiet?! You would think I have puppies here if it wasn’t for the different sounds ducklings make! Lol!!! Aww, I know!! I love how they run up to me too-shaking their bums and cocking their heads side to side peeping and jumping at me! They are just so precious! I dampened the food for them too!! I introduced them to their water bowl and they love to trample around dipping their feet in it! It’s too cute when the water droplets form the little water bubbles next to the water bowl and they slurp it up, pecking at it.The little clicking noise they make when their beaks hit the bottom of the plastic area that isn’t covered by the paper towel is just too adorable šŸ¤— They are just so sweet 🄰 They are so cute when they jump!! I can’t believe how active they ALL are already! They are so adorable when they start resting and they try and keep their eyes open but they can’t and they start slowly drifting off!

Aww- poor little ā€œloneā€ egg. That’s a shame that only one made it from the shipping eggs- I did read that it can be very difficult to hatch shipping eggs for many different reasons, including the shipment process alone! That’s so sweet that you got friends for her already! Poor things- I hope they settle soon. At least in the meantime they have each other, so I hope they make the transition quickly for both themselves as well as you! Spunky- huh?! That’s awesome! I can’t wait to figure out everyone’s individual personalities! I have names picked out but I’m waiting to name them according to their personalities and individual characteristic traits (so I wonder if any of the names I picked will end up changing)!

I will update with #10 and continue fighting with and for her! Definitely keep me updated on your end too! It’s so nice that we’ve been going through the experience together and are able to share our stories and events with each other! It’s especially nicer to talk to someone who understands the ā€œhatching worldā€ and all that it’s ā€œquackedā€ up to be!!!

I agree- everyone here has been so supportive, informative, and helpful! It’s very easy to say that I have not only finished my hatch with new ducklings, but new friends as well :love

Wow!!! So amazing to hear you had a 100% hatch rate-especially from shipped eggs!!! Thank you for sharing your story with me! That is absolutely amazing! Lol, I totally agree! I will NOT miss the sleepless nights, but I still have lots of learning, new experiences and fun times ahead of me, so I’m super excited!!!

This community is ā€œAH-MAZE-INGā€- I really found a wonderful support network during this time. A LOT of friends and family are SUPER happy for me- but I know they don’t understand the work and research and everything involved in the entire process, so they can’t even begin to completely and fully understand the extent of my happiness, ya know? It’s a different understanding and happiness to talk to someone who has fully experienced or is currently experiencing a hatch!

Thank you for your continued support and I hope to keep in touch and remain friends šŸ’œ

Here are our last three babies, finally transferred to the brooder. They hatched within an hour of each other this morning. They all look like they will be blues (they are all from the same nest). They are slightly different shades of grey. I put down some new paper towels to take some photos, but soon it was poop city!

Congrats!!! They are gorgeous and totally adorable! Thank you so much for the update! THE POOP!!! They were pooping in my bator too!!! šŸ˜‚ I finally added paper towels on top of the towel for a quick change. I was changing the paper towels today in the brooder, which sit on a comfy towel in there too, every time I saw a few poops- this was A LOT and I finally decided that since they are not pooping under the heat lamp or where they lay/sleep, I’ll just change the paper towels when I feel they will step in it and the one by the water bowl has gotten wet fairly quickly (which actually here is where they tend to poo the most!!!)

Someone told me to use the feeder bowl as their water and the water and their feeder, but I do want them to play in the water, so for the moment I’m not worried about constantly changing a paper towel or two due to water and if poo gets on it too- so be it! Other that that- they’ve been really good and poop in the same spots (these two particular 1/2 sheet paper towels)! I’m not going to hold my breath- it’ll probably be all over in a few more days, if not when I wake up in the morning, lol! But if not, that’d be amazing!!! I know they can’t control going to the bathroom like humans, it just comes when it comes! Kind of stinks because apparently ducks are so intelligent so I bet if they were able to hold their ā€œdroppingsā€ they could definitely be potty trained!!

I can’t wait to see what your babies look like when they get a little older!!!

@JaeG I will send a picture in the morning when I add my youngest 3 to the brooder with my older 3 at 9am, so you can see everyone together!!! Feel free to send more cute pictures from your end as well!

Luckily- I find the adult mallard’s and other ducks just as adorable as the babies, so I don’t mind that they grow so quickly or even seeing pictures of other adult ducks! Even the original Mama Duck was just so cute!!!
